About Cori Cori Clinical is building an AI-native platform for clinical trials. Clinical trials are still run on fragmented documents, manual processes, and disconnected decisions. Protocols, feasibility assessments, regulatory documents, budgets, amendments, and operational plans are often created in silos, even though they are deeply connected. We are changing that. Cori helps clinical teams design, review, and manage trials with more structure, speed, and confidence. Our platform supports clinical trial teams from early study design through document creation, review, and operational planning. We are already working with hospitals, biotech companies, pharma teams, and CROs, and we are now building the senior engineering layer that will help us scale the product and company. The role We are looking for a Lead Backend / Full-Stack Engineer to join our foundational engineering team. This is a senior hands-on role for someone who can design and build robust systems, contribute across the stack when needed, and help shape the technical foundation of the company. You will work closely with the founders, product, AI, clinical, and engineering team to build the core platform behind Cori. This includes backend systems, APIs, data models, document workflows, integrations, AI-enabled product features, and the infrastructure needed to support regulated clinical environments. This is not a narrow execution role. You will be part of the technical leadership layer of the company and will help define how we build, scale, and maintain the product. What you’ll do • Design, build, and maintain backend systems that power Cori’s clinical trial platform, • Own key parts of our architecture, APIs, services, and data models, • Work across backend and full-stack product development where needed, • Build workflows for document generation, review, knowledge extraction, and structured trial data, • Collaborate with AI engineers to bring AI capabilities into reliable product experiences, • Help design systems that are secure, scalable, and suitable for regulated healthcare and life sciences customers, • Contribute to engineering standards, code quality, technical decision-making, and architecture reviews, • Work closely with product and clinical experts to translate complex user needs into simple, reliable software, • Strong experience as a backend, platform, or full-stack engineer, • Excellent software engineering fundamentals, • Experience designing and building production-grade systems, • Strong backend experience, ideally with APIs, databases, authentication, permissions, and service architecture, • Ability to work across the stack when needed, • Comfortable in an early-stage startup environment with ambiguity, ownership, and fast iteration, • Strong product sense and ability to think from the user’s perspective, • Pragmatic approach to architecture: able to build properly without over-engineering, • Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, • Experience with Python, TypeScript, Node.js, React, or similar modern stacks, • Experience with AI products, LLM workflows, document systems, or knowledge platforms, • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, clinical trials, regulated software, or enterprise SaaS, • Experience working in small, high-performing engineering teams, • Help build a product that can meaningfully improve how clinical trials are designed and run, • Join at an early stage with real ownership and meaningful equity, • Work on complex product and engineering problems at the intersection of AI, healthcare, and regulated workflows, • Be part of the foundational engineering team, not just another hire in a large organisation, • Work directly with the founders and senior team At this stage, we need people who want to build, own, challenge, and improve the company with us. People who care about craft, speed, users, and the quality of the system we are creating. If you want to help build the technical foundation for an AI-native clinical trial platform, we’d love to hear from you.
