Through our unique combination of local expertise, global network, and unmatched RD capabilities, we can offer everything from standard profiles, to advanced development and manufacturing for most industries. /p h3Role Purpose /h3 pThe role is responsible for supporting the development, qualification, and execution of welding activities for structural components in railway applications (MIG, TIG, FSW). The role combines deep technical welding expertise with strong knowledge of standards, materials, and quality requirements specific to the rail sector. It plays a key part in ensuring compliance with key railway standards such as EN 15085, ISO 3834, and other quality standards, HSE regulations, and customer requirements. /p pIn addition, the automotive sector is supported by helping choose the right technology, cost evaluation and planning from serial equipment as well as guiding, advising, and challenging the production sites. /p h3What You Will Be Doing /h3 ul liSupport feasibility assessments for welding during RFQs and project phases /li liDevelop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and qualifications /li liDefine and optimise welding parameters in collaboration with production teams /li liEnsure compliance with key standards (EN 15085, ISO 3834) and customer requirements /li liProvide on‑site technical support and troubleshoot welding issues /li liLead root cause analyses for defects and support continuous improvement /li liDefine inspection and testing plans and support audits and certifications /li liGuide production sites on welding technologies, industrialisation, and best practices /li /ul h3What Will Make You Successful /h3 ul liMaster’s degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, or related field /li liStrong hands‑on experience in welding (MIG, TIG, FSW), ideally in rail or aluminium environments /li liKnowledge of railway welding standards and quality requirements /li liUnderstanding of aluminium materials (especially 6xxx alloys) and manufacturing processes /li liStrong analytical skills and a structured, problem‑solving mindset /li liAbility to work independently while collaborating across teams and functions /li liFluent English (German/French an advantage) /li /ul h3What We Offer /h3 ul liA high‑impact role in advanced rail and automotive manufacturing projects /li liOpportunities to work with cutting‑edge welding technologies /li liInternational collaboration and exposure across multiple European sites /li liA dynamic and hands‑on technical environment /li liAutonomy and responsibility in driving process improvements /li liTravel opportunities and involvement in on‑site operations /li liA strong culture of quality, safety, and continuous learning /li /ul h3Equal Opportunities /h3 pAt Hydro, we believe diversity makes us stronger.
