The opportunity This role is responsible for integration of the Intact Insurance Europe business as it relates to technical underwriting matters within the respective line of business. The function involves influencing the business and supporting portfolio outperformance through technical leadership and strong governance. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, be innovative and agile and have extensive knowledge of Specialty insurance with deep technical expertise in the Liability business, including Financial Lines and Cyber. You will have a track record of influencing and driving the sustainable outperformance of the business by providing technical underwriting guidance and support, evaluating, and analysing data and business trends to guide tactical and strategic decisions Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Work collaboratively with the business to ensure sound and successful execution of the respective business strategy., • Demonstrate strong Product management oversight by ensuring adequate execution of underwriting governance frameworks and controls. Work collaboratively with Pricing & Portfolio Management teams to ensure KPIs are effective and executed by the Business at all times., • Ensure Technical Excellence standards (incl. Underwriting capabilities and Licences, Pricing, Wording, Reinsurance, Risk Management, Exposures Accumulation) are met by the business., • Guide and influence the development of initiatives and respond to the challenges paused by operational efficiency, product development and data quality., • Provide coaching, performance feedback and facilitate continuous technical learning and development to Liability Directors and Underwriting Leaders responsible for the Liability business., • Contribute to the strategic planning process for Intact Insurance team through the provision of portfolio actions and product improvements, advice and recommendations to enhance the Liability business performance., • Act as a subject matter expert in key strategic initiatives and a thought leader in SL Liability internal technical forums., • Provide updates and reports to the CUO on all the Liability portfolio performance and critical operational items., • Support Underwriting governance initiatives and actions including implementation of technical audits and review of key controls., • Be an ambassador for change: apply and promote best practice in terms of change management., • Support Intact Insurance CUO in creating a continuous culture of deep expertise and strong underwriting discipline within the business., • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with Brokers, Clients and key internal stakeholders with, Operations, Underwriting, Claims and others., • Handling the routine flow of requests for information: responding or re-directing and prioritizing items accordingly., • Communicating and liaising with internal finance colleagues and others (Underwriting, Operations, Claims,..) in order to check accuracy, give or obtain further information and/or resolve queries. • Contributing to projects and initiatives as required. The expertise you bring • 15+ years’ experience in commercial or specialty insurance., • 5+ years in Management or Technical leadership in the Liability business., • Master University degree or above., • Strategic thinker with the ability to focus on attention to detail., • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, motivate operational teams and drive change., • Proven track record of setting clear objectives and monitoring progress of multiple projects against deadlines., • Ability to address complex problems and take calculated risks to make critical decisions in time sensitive situations., • Effective communication skills to develop and foster business relationships with all levels of the organization and influence others outside of his/her direct control., • Comfortable working with sense of urgency and can adapt due the unexpected or unpredictable events., • Executive / Portfolio license holder in Liability.
