Our standards for medicines and their ingredients, compiled in the European Pharmacopeia, are legally binding in 39 member states of the Council of Europe and are also widely used across the globe in both the human and animal health sectors. Beyond medicines, we also play a crucial role in blood transfusion, organ, tissue and cell transplantation and in developing and setting consumer health standards, for everyday products such as cosmetics and food contact materials. Your Team: The Management Support Division (MSD), tasked with supporting the EDQM’s strategic and transversal activities, is looking for a Policy Officer, on a temporary basis – for an initial period of 6 months, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum total duration of 12 months – to advise and support EDQM colleagues on policy issues, in particular in respect of emerging topics in the pharmaceutical regulatory, policy and technology fields having a potential impact on EDQM activities. Your Role: As a Policy Officer, your role will focus on: • supporting monitoring and horizon‑scanning of emerging topics in the pharmaceutical regulatory, policy and technology fields that could have an impact on the EDQM’s activities (e.g. changes to pharmaceutical legislation and other relevant legal frameworks, emerging technologies and processes);, • contributing to environmental analyses (e.g. PESTLE) as an input into the development and review of EDQM strategies;, • assisting in the analysis of regulatory and policy developments and preparing notes, summaries and background material for management review;, • co‑ordinating EDQM contributions to external consultations (e.g. by the European Commission) on policies, new legislative proposals or guidance documents relevant for the EDQM’s areas of activity, by collecting inputs, ensuring the consistency of submissions, and following internal validation processes;, • providing colleagues with reliable information and reference material to support informed policy development;;, • preparing background documents, briefings, presentations and other written material for use by colleagues,, • reporting on results achieved, risks and opportunities. Requirements to apply You must have: • the nationality of one of the 46 member states of the Council of Europe;, • a very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of French;, • a higher education degree in pharmacy, biology, chemistry, public health, European studies, or another relevant field;, • experience in public health, pharmaceutical policy, regulatory affairs, or a related domain;, • a basic understanding of the regulatory and legislative environment relevant to the pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors;, • experience working with internal and/or external stakeholders, ideally in a co-ordination or support function;, • good communication skills, with the ability to summarise and present information clearly;, • the ability to build constructive working relationships across teams;, • ease in working within multidisciplinary environments and collaborating with colleagues from different backgrounds;, • good analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to produce clear drafts and summaries;, • curiosity and a proactive approach to learning about new topics, including emerging trends, policies and technologies;, • flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured and reliable manner;, • good judgement and awareness of working within an international and multicultural environment;, • the ability to work independently on assigned tasks while seeking support or guidance when needed;, • a high level of professionalism, integrity and discretion.
