Position: R&D Engineer Contract: Permanent, Full Time Location: Worcestershire (Hybrid Working Available) Salary: up to Β£45,250 plus performance bonus (paid twice yearly in June & December payslip), Plus Flexitime (employees can choose their working pattern) Industry: Oil & Gas PRS Engineering has engaged with a key client and a leading Oil & Gas Equipment manufacturer based in the Worcestershire area. Due to team expansion and booming industry, we are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis. Products you will be involved in, Filters, Strainers, Separators, Flame Arrestors, Skid Packages, Piping Systems, Pressure Vessels. Summary of Job: β’ Taking concept designs to production within an agreed time frame, utilising the latest 3D modelling techniques, β’ Producing technical manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks for production of equipment, β’ Producing design calculations using software packages, i.e. SolidWorks Flow Simulation and supervised simulation, β’ Product development including research and supervised prototype testing to optimise performance and cost, β’ Producing concept designs and production models to agreed specifications, β’ Overseeing the companyβs PED approvals to ensure the standard product ranges are kept up to date Staff relationship: β’ Directly responsible to the Engineering Manager, β’ Supervised by the Lead Engineers & Primary Engineers during project work, β’ Works with Test Engineers/Production personnel where testing/practical work is required, β’ Liaises with technical analysts, for checking and support, as and when required, β’ Liaises internally with all departments, β’ Liaises with suppliers, including third party inspection bodies, β’ Works closely with the Technical Director Experience and qualifications: β’ Proficient in 3D modelling (SolidWorks), including assemblies and configurations, β’ Experience with 2D drafting (AutoCAD or similar) from in-house training, β’ Higher National Certificate (HNC) qualified in Mechanical Engineering (with practical experience), β’ Proficient with Microsoft Office software, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint, β’ Proficient in Physics and Mathematics Duties and responsibilities: β’ Shall be fully committed to the achievement of the company policies and objectives with special respect to quality, safety and environment, β’ Working to agreed task lists for R&D, technical and project work and seeking clarification from the Engineering Manager, as required, β’ Design: this shall include, but not be limited to: -Research into specifications, materials and components, as instructed Design calculations and simulation, β’ Material Procurement: issuing material requisitions for project and technical work, β’ Assisting the Technical Director with SolidWorks PDM administration, β’ Liaising with the Engineering Manager and Design Engineers to ensure the project/task is fully understood, β’ SolidWorks technical drawings for manufacture and assembly in accordance with company standards to agreed time schedules, β’ Integration of common parts/standardisation and finalisation of materials and components, β’ Ensuring the designs are safe and in accordance with the Health and Safety Act and other governing legislations, i.e., Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU (PED), β’ Creating final assembly models from concepts through the necessary procedures (Where applicable, functional/process testing to establish equipment is βfit for purposeβ) β’ Compilation of flow test results from test engineers with supervised validation from, β’ Witness of pressure testing/flow testing to confirm acceptability of design, β’ Documentation: responsible for the organisation and preparation of all engineering documentation requirements, ensuring they are issued, as required by the project, β’ Responsible for the compilation of Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) approval documentation for issue to notified bodies, to enable approval of design This shall include (but not limited to): - β’ Selection of conformity assessment modules o Manufacturing and GA drawings (for the product range) o Working procedures o Sales Data Sheets Qualifications/Experience Minimum GCSE Grade 5 (equivalent grade C) or higher in Maths, English & Science HNC in Mechanical Engineering essential Essential knowledge of Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, Excel) required A minimum of 2 yearsβ experience in Research and Development Practical skills in manufacturing, welding, piping and materials essential Experience using Adobe Acrobat AutoCAD experience essential SolidWorks & 3D Modelling ASME PV code knowledge preferred (i.e., ASME VIII) Experience of working within the Oil & Gas industry preferred Experience of filters, strainers and pressure vessels preferred Benefits β’ Company bonus, β’ Company pension scheme, β’ Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), β’ Life insurance (death in service), β’ 23 days holiday (19 floating days, 4 fixed towards Christmas shutdown) +extra service days +Bank Holidays +Birthday Leave (after 2 full calendar yearsβ service), β’ Training opportunities, β’ Free eye tests and contribution towards lenses/spectacles for VDU users, if appropriate, β’ Social events organised and funded by the company, β’ Corporate gym discount
