We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair, and servicing of heavy goods vehicles to ensure they meet safety standards and operate at peak efficiency. You will work in a fast-paced workshop environment, managing multiple vehicles and prioritizing tasks based on operational urgency. Your expertise will be critical in minimizing downtime, extending vehicle lifespan, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. This position requires a combination of technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.Key Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive diagnostic testing and troubleshooting on HGV engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical componentsConduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and component inspectionsRepair and replace faulty parts such as brake pads, suspension components, exhaust systems, and hydraulic systemsOperate diagnostic equipment and computerized testing tools to identify mechanical and electrical faultsDocument all work performed, parts used, and hours spent on each vehicle in maintenance recordsEnsure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and relevant safety regulationsCommunicate with workshop supervisors and drivers regarding vehicle status and repair timelinesMaintain a clean and organized workshop, adhering to health and safety standardsPerform MOT and roadworthiness inspections as requiredAssist in training junior technicians and sharing technical knowledge with team membersCandidate ProfileWe are looking for candidates who combine strong technical expertise with reliability and attention to detail. The ideal HGV Technician will have proven experience working on heavy commercial vehicles, a solid understanding of diesel engines and complex mechanical systems, and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
