Assistant Design Manager – Secure Facility Design & Build 📍 In-Office / On-Site | 🕒 Flexible Part-Time or Full-Time | 💷 Up to £50,000 p.a. pro rata Are you experienced in secure facility or high-security infrastructure design and ready to take the next step towards a Design Manager role? We’re looking for an Assistant Design Manager to work closely with our CEO on the design and technical coordination of secure, design-and-build projects. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility, ideal for someone with experience in data centres, secure government environments, or critical national infrastructure, who wants to grow into leading the full design lifecycle. The Role As Assistant Design Manager, you’ll support and progressively lead the design process from initial brief through to construction support and as-built handover. You’ll coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, manage external consultants, and ensure designs meet technical, regulatory, and security standards. This is a varied, cross-functional position where no two days look the same — and where your input genuinely matters. Key Responsibilities Design Leadership & Coordination • Lead the design process alongside the CEO across all project stages, • Ensure compliance with client requirements, regulations, and security accreditations, • Produce and manage design documentation, drawings, reports, and presentations, • Coordinate and review work from external draughtspersons and specialist consultants, • Integrate architectural, structural, MEP, ICT, and security systems into cohesive design packages Stakeholder Engagement • Act as the main design contact for clients, end users, and internal teams, • Liaise with Building Control, planning authorities, and security accreditors, • Lead design workshops, coordination meetings, and technical reviews, • Work closely with contractors, suppliers, and specialist partners Skills, Experience & Qualifications Essential • Experience or strong knowledge of secure facilities or critical national infrastructure, • Understanding of government security standards and accreditation processes, • Familiarity with MOD Secure by Design principles, • Knowledge of the Catalogue of Security Equipment and STaMP assessments, • High integrity and ability to handle sensitive or classified information, • Some proficiency in AutoCAD / Revit (or willingness to develop this further), • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, • Ability to achieve and maintain UK MoD Security Clearance (SC) Security Requirement • You must be a SOLE UK National, • Must have completed, or be willing to complete, the DISA Security Controller Course Personal Attributes • Highly organised, proactive, and detail-focused, • Strong problem-solver with sound technical judgement, • Comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines, • Confident working with senior stakeholders, • A genuine team player who enjoys a fun but high-performing environment, • Growth-minded, curious, and keen to develop professionally Working Pattern & Flexibility We’re open to part-time or full-time candidates and offer genuine flexibility around hours: • 3 full days per week: 8:00am – 4:30pm (22.5 hours/week), • or, • 5 shorter days per week: approx. 9:00am – 2:30pm to support school drop-off and pick-up (22.5 hours/week) What We Offer • Clear progression towards a Design Manager role, • Exposure to complex, high-profile secure projects, • A collaborative environment with in-house and external specialists, • Ongoing professional development in secure design and data-centre standards, • Salary up to £50,000 per annum, pro rata, plus a strong benefits package If you’re ready to step into a role where trust, technical excellence, and growth really matter — we’d love to hear from you. 👉 Apply via LinkedIn or contact us directly for a confidential conversation.
