The Role As Dispensing Optician, you’ll play a key part in the patient journey, acting as the vital link between the consulting room and the dispensing process. You’ll provide expert advice, deliver a premium experience, and ensure every patient leaves with the best possible solution for their lifestyle and visual needs. Key Responsibilities • Deliver outstanding customer service with a warm, professional approach, • Support the three-way handover between the Optometrist and patient, • Guide patients through frame and lens selection with confidence, • Take accurate measurements, including the use of digital dispensing tools where required, • Ensure orders are processed smoothly and liaise with suppliers when needed, • Carry out quality checks, fittings, and adjustments to ensure comfort and accuracy, • Complete administration and clinical record keeping to a high standard, ensuring GDPR compliance, • Handle transactions accurately and in line with practice procedures, • Support and supervise Dispensing Assistants, providing training where appropriate, • Assist with minor repairs to spectacles and hearing devices, • Resolve patient queries professionally, escalating where necessary, • Maintain excellent standards of presentation in both personal appearance and practice environment, • Keep up to date with products, clinical techniques, CPD, and GOC requirements Requirements • Previous experience within an optical dispensing environment, • Level 6 Diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing (or equivalent), • GOC registration, • Strong communication skills with a patient-first mindset, • Confident using IT systems with strong organisational skills, • Positive, adaptable, and motivated to develop within a progressive independent practice Package & Benefits • Competitive salary: £33,000 – £37,000 DOE, • 33 days holiday including bank holidays, • No Sunday or Bank Holiday working, • 1 Saturday off per month, • Company pension scheme (salary sacrifice option available) and Life Assurance, • Incentive scheme, • Staff and family discounts, • Ongoing training and development support, including CPD events, • Company sick pay, • Perkbox, Employee Assistance Programme, and Cycle to Work scheme, • Team-building events and a genuinely supportive culture Interview Process The process is swift and transparent, designed to assess both clinical and cultural fit: • Initial telephone interview with the Practice Manager, • Final on-site interview within the practice Interested?
