Draughtsperson Heavy Civils & Earthworks (Contract) Major Infrastructure Project The Opportunity If you’re the type of Draughtsperson who takes pride in producing accurate drawings first time — not simply moving lines on a screen — this opportunity deserves your attention. We’re seeking an experienced Contract Draughtsperson / CAD Technician to support delivery on a major heavy civil engineering project near Bridgwater. This is a long-term scheme running through to 2027/28, offering genuine continuity and the chance to become a key part of a high-performing project team. The Project This is a large, multi-phase infrastructure development delivering complex civil engineering works, including: Sheet piling Major earthworks River realignments Bridges and viaducts It’s a technically demanding environment with multiple active work fronts — ideal for someone who enjoys working close to operations and producing accurate, buildable information. The Role You’ll play a key role supporting engineering and delivery teams by producing, updating, and maintaining accurate drawings across the project. This is not a back-office role. You’ll work closely with engineers and site teams to ensure drawings reflect what is actually happening on site. Key responsibilities include: Producing and updating construction drawings and as-built records Interpreting and implementing engineer mark-ups and redlines Supporting engineers with temporary and permanent works detailing Maintaining accurate and up-to-date drawing registers Ensuring all drawings reflect latest revisions and site changes Working closely with site engineers to capture as-built information Assisting with quality assurance and document control Supporting coordination across multiple work sections About You We’re looking for a Draughtsperson who understands civils — not just CAD. You’ll likely have experience on major infrastructure or heavy civils projects and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, site-led environment. You’ll bring: Based within one hour of Bridgwater Proven experience as a CAD Technician / Draughtsperson in civil engineering Strong AutoCAD skills (essential) Experience on earthworks, piling, RC, or infrastructure projects Ability to interpret engineering drawings and redlines accurately Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work Confidence liaising with engineers and site teams Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and deadlines Desirable: Civil 3D or BIM experience Previous experience producing as-built drawings on live projects Rate & Package £350 – £400 per day (PAYE plus holiday pay) Long-term freelance role with excellent continuity Opportunity to work on a high-profile and technically interesting project Why This Role?
