Salary: £30,000–£40,000 (DOE) Location: Bristol (remote working) About the Company A leading specialist consultancy in passive fire protection and fire safety is seeking a CAD Technician to join its growing team. Operating across the UK and Ireland, the organisation provides expert guidance on passive fire protection systems, undertakes inspections and reporting on both new and existing installations, and conducts full compartmentation surveys across a wide range of sectors including construction, hospitality, and education. With over two decades of industry experience and consistent year-on-year growth, the company is recognised as a trusted provider of compliance-led fire protection solutions. Role Overview Due to sustained expansion and increased demand for high-quality design services within the construction sector, we are looking for a CAD Technician to support the design function. You will work closely with the Lead Designer and wider project team to prepare passive fire protection CAD details, coordinate supporting documentation, and contribute to high-quality project delivery. This role offers excellent long-term development opportunities, including the potential to specialise in passive fire protection design and ultimately lead projects with senior support. This position is ideal for candidates with CAD experience (AutoCAD preferred) and a strong eye for detail. Prior experience in fire protection or fire safety is beneficial but not essential, as full training can be provided. Key Responsibilities • Produce bespoke passive fire protection designs using CAD software based on project requirements and guidance from the Lead Designer or Project Lead., • Interpret initial design information to prepare accurate CAD details aligned with client and project needs., • Participate in the design quality assurance process and collaborate with the project team to ensure compliance., • Prepare project documentation using Excel and other Microsoft Office tools, including drawing registers, schedules, and supporting files., • Work closely with senior designers and management, receiving ongoing guidance, training, and support. Skills & Behaviours The ideal candidate will demonstrate: • CAD experience (AutoCAD preferred but not essential)., • Strong attention to detail and evidence-based assessment skills., • Good communication and teamwork abilities., • Strong time management and organisational skills., • Competency with Microsoft Office (Excel essential)., • Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and wider research., • A clean driving licence and access to a vehicle (mileage reimbursed)., • Background knowledge or qualifications in fire safety or passive fire protection (advantageous but not required).
