Quantity Surveyor Location: Wakefield Salary: £55,000 – £85,000 + Package Project Values: £40,000,000 - £150,000,000 A leading main contractor specialising in large-scale commercial buildings and mission-critical data centre developments is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Wakefield. With a strong pipeline of projects across the North of England (within 45 minutes of Wakefield), this role offers long-term opportunity, progression and exposure to landmark schemes. Key Responsibilities: • Manage the full commercial lifecycle across live construction projects, from procurement through to final account., • Prepare, submit and negotiate interim valuations, variations and final accounts with clients and subcontractors., • Source and evaluate competitive quotations, ensuring value and risk are fully assessed., • Draft, review and manage sub-contracts and supply chain agreements in line with company standards and project requirements., • Ensure timely certification of subcontractor payments and manage cost flow forecasts., • Support monthly cost reporting and maintain accurate project financial records., • Work collaboratively with project teams to minimise commercial risk and maximise value., • Assist in resolving client and supply chain payment queries in conjunction with the accounts team., • Ensure all commercial activities are in line with contractual and legal obligations. Requirements: • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline., • 3+ years’ experience in a QS role within a main contracting environment., • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement, and cost control., • Proven ability to manage multiple packages on high-value projects., • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
