Electronic Repair Technician \n Location: Central Scotland Salary: £35,000 Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent \n About the Company \n Our client is a long-established engineering business specialising in industrial electronics, electrical engineering, repair, maintenance, manufacturing and technical support services. Working across a diverse range of sectors including manufacturing, medical, defence, local authority and industrial markets, they have built an excellent reputation for technical expertise, quality service and customer support. \n Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Electronic Repair Technician to join their engineering team. \n The Role \n This is a hands-on workshop-based role focused on the diagnosis, repair and testing of electronic equipment and circuit boards. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying faults to component level, carrying out repairs and rework, and ensuring repaired equipment is returned to customers to the highest quality standards. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Diagnose and repair faulty electronic equipment and printed circuit boards (PCBs).\n, • Carry out component-level fault finding on analogue and digital electronic circuits.\n, • Perform soldering, de-soldering and PCB rework activities.\n, • Use test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes and power supplies.\n, • Read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics and technical manuals.\n, • Test, inspect and validate repaired equipment prior to release.\n, • Identify root causes of electronic failures and implement effective repairs.\n, • Complete service reports and repair documentation.\n, • Support colleagues with technical troubleshooting activities.\n, • Maintain a safe, organised and quality-focused working environment.\n\n Requirements \n Essential \n\n • Previous experience in electronic repair and fault finding.\n, • Ability to diagnose faults on circuit boards to component level.\n, • Strong soldering and PCB rework skills.\n, • Experience using electronic test and diagnostic equipment.\n, • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.\n, • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\n, • High attention to detail and quality standards.\n\n Desirable \n\n • HNC, HND, Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Electronics or Electrical & Electronic Engineering.\n, • IPC certification (IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721 or equivalent).\n, • Experience repairing industrial electronic equipment.\n, • Experience within manufacturing, defence, aerospace, medical or industrial electronics environments.\n, • Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics.\n\n Personal Attributes \n\n • Methodical approach to fault finding and diagnostics.\n, • Excellent attention to detail.\n, • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.\n, • Positive team player with strong communication skills.\n, • Committed to delivering high-quality workmanship and customer service.\n\n Package \n\n • Competitive salary dependent on experience.\n, • Long-term career opportunity within a respected engineering business.\n, • Varied and technically challenging repair work.\n, • Ongoing training and development opportunities.\n, • Supportive and collaborative working environment.\n\n If you have experience repairing electronic equipment, fault finding circuit boards and carrying out component-level repairs, we'd be keen to hear from you. \n
