Driver & Courier

Driver & Courier jobs have skyrocketed in the past few decades as online commerce has grown. With companies such as Amazon offering next day shipment arrivals, it is no wonder that the demand for delivery driver jobs has increased. Under the Covid-19 pandemic, driver and courier jobs are booming even more.

What sets courier drivers apart is that they usually dedicate their efforts to ensure that critical documents, parcels and letters get to the right destination on time. They’ll optimise route planning, process payments or verify signatures as per corporate policy. A courier driver will have an intuitive sense of direction, a friendly disposition and be somewhat fit. Courier driver jobs tend to have candidates spending a majority of their time on the road. The ideal courier driver will be perfectly comfortable going about on his own and will enjoy his own company.

A delivery driver can be an independent contractor or an employed individual with an assigned salary. Ranging from grocery items, restaurant deliveries, product dispatches, clothes delivery etc, these individuals bring anything and everything to the correct address. Similar to a courier driver, they may process payments, will use different types of vehicles, plan smart routes and will do so with a smile. To become a delivery driver, the applicant should have strong communication skills, be reasonably fit to move about packages, a cordial persona and a good sense of the road.

To undertake driver & courier jobs, it’s essential that the candidate holds the correct license for the vehicle he choses. Whether it’s a cycle, a bike, a car or a van - owning the right class of license is the first step to becoming a courier driver or a delivery one. A driver’s and courier’s average salary in the UK is £12.50/hour and can go up to £21/hour with experience.
