Express Recruitment are seeking an experienced Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial leadership and management across multiple projects within the FDIS Central North (England) region. This temporary role (6 months maternity cover) will play a key part in overseeing tendering, subcontract procurement, providing contractual and commercial advice, and ensuring effective cost and risk management during the delivery phase of projects. The ideal candidate will be confident managing a small team, ensuring accuracy in tender submissions, and maintaining commercial compliance across multiple sites. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile public sector infrastructure projects. Roles & Responsibilities • Manage a small team of Quantity Surveyors, ensuring accurate tender processes and timely submission of Firm Prices, • Support team performance monitoring during the maternity cover period, • Monitor tender progress across multiple sites, • Prepare and issue formal tender enquiries and run formal tenders on larger projects (£1M+), • Review, analyse, and recommend subcontractor bids, • Draft, negotiate, and issue subcontract orders in line with company procedures, • Support Elementary Cost Management functions and assist Project Managers, • Attend and contribute to monthly Commercial Meetings, • Ensure compliance with FDIS contract requirements, notices, and procedures, • Assist Project Managers with commercial elements of project delivery, • Work closely with Project Managers, Clients, Subcontractors, and the wider commercial team to ensure clarity and consistency in commercial processes, • Represent the company in commercial negotiations and progress meetings Skills & Experience • Proven track record as a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor, ideally with team management experience, • Strong understanding of construction contracts, • BPSS security clearance (or ability to meet requirements), • Experience in tendering, subcontract procurement, and cost management, ideally in a public sector environment, • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, • IT literate (MS Office, Excel, contract management systems), • Relevant Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, • Chartered status (MRICS) desirable but not essential, • Full UK driving licence (role involves regional travel) About Express Recruitment Express Recruitment has been offering exceptional recruitment solutions across the East Midlands since 1987, “exceeding expectations every time” of over 267,000 candidates.
