Senior Site Manager – Onshore (UK, England) • North East Yorkshire, UK, • 12-Month Contract, • Outside IR35 Spencer Ogden is partnering with a leading organisation in the energy infrastructure sector to recruit an experienced Senior Site Manager for a major onshore cable installation project in England. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a large-scale power transmission project, supporting the UK’s transition to a more sustainable energy network. The Role As Senior Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing on-site construction activities, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient project execution. You will act as a key interface between contractors, stakeholders, and project leadership while driving a strong health & safety culture. Key Responsibilities • Lead site supervision and ensure full compliance with project HSE plans and construction procedures, • Champion a strong safety culture across all site activities, • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to avoid interface clashes, • Chair daily and weekly site meetings with stakeholders, • Oversee civil construction activities including trenching, HDD, duct installation, cable installation, and reinstatement, • Ensure all personnel are trained, competent, and equipped for their tasks, • Manage permits, access requirements, and stakeholder coordination (landowners, authorities, etc.), • Monitor HSE risks and ensure mitigation measures are implemented, • Conduct regular site inspections and audits, • Maintain accurate project documentation and contribute to lessons learned Key Requirements • Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience), • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Site Manager on major infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects, • Strong experience managing subcontractors and reviewing technical documentation, • Proven track record in permits and stakeholder management, • Experience coordinating multiple contractors on complex worksites, • Strong leadership and commitment to health & safety Technical Experience • Civil works supervision (trenching, backfilling, HDD, cable pulling, etc.), • Experience on power or telecoms cable installation projects is highly desirable, • Familiarity with UK regulations and standards, including: o Health and Safety at Work Act o CDM Regulations 2015 o BS 5975 Temporary Works Certifications • SMSTS, • CSCS, • CDM Regulations 2015 knowledge, • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) certification (preferred) Contract Details • 12-month contract (starting June 2026), • Full-time, site-based role in North East Yorkshire Desirable Skills • Strong communication and stakeholder management, • Excellent organisational and coordination abilities, • Problem-solving mindset, • Experience in project planning and reporting, • Passion for energy and infrastructure projects
