Duration: Approved until 31dec26 (renewable) Status: Contract - INSIDE IR35 Other: Due to the nature of the role, there will be a frequent requirement to work on evenings, nights and weekends Morson Edge are working with a major player in the Energy Sector who have a current (contract) requirement for a Radiological Protection Technician to join their established site-based team in Somerset. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of Europe's largest infrastructure construction Project. Broad overview: • Radiological protection technicians will support the independent control, supervision, and monitoring of the radiography, reducing the risks to workers from unplanned events and the potential delays to the construction schedule., • The role will also be expected to support the preparations for radiography tasks, and due to the nature of radiography, the role requires frequent work mostly on evenings, nights and weekends., • A Radiological Protection Technician will accompany the radiography teams to ensure the correct standards of work and barrier control are being exercised:, • Confirm the barriers have been erected as per the barrier plan and that all necessary equipment is in place and operational, and (where appropriate) is calibrated and has undergone a pre-use check., • Perform radiation monitoring at the barrier during the exposure, ensuring the barriers continue to be placed correctly., • Prior to handing the area back, confirm the work is complete and that all sources and equipment have been removed from the area. Criteria • City and Guilds in Radiation Protection Grade I or equivalent, • A minimum of 3 years experience as a qualified Radiation Protection Technician / Health Physics Monitor within an organisation., • A working knowledge of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) as it applies to this role., • Competent I.T. worker., • Demonstrable knowledge of IRR2017 to be able to be appointed as a Radiation Protection Supervisor., • The ability to work in a project team environment, requiring flexibility, rapidity and resilience under pressure., • A nationally recognised Level 2 qualification in Radiological Protection / Health Physics Monitoring (e.g., City and Guilds Stage 2, NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) Level 2 Diploma, Level 2 Underpinning Knowledge Certificate), • Experience of performing radiation monitoring during radiography work, • Experience of working on a nuclear licensed site., • Experience of managing inventories of instruments, radioactive sources. xrnqpay, • Previous shift work., • Previous appointment as an RPS
