Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for an Income Officer to work with one of our Housing clients in Essex. What the Job Will Be Doing • Managing a caseload of rent accounts, ensuring effective collection and recovery of outstanding arrears., • Monitoring rent accounts, identifying arrears at an early stage and taking appropriate recovery action., • Negotiating affordable repayment arrangements with residents and monitoring compliance., • Completing income and expenditure assessments to establish realistic repayment plans., • Preparing and serving Notices of Seeking Possession (NOSPs) and other legal documentation., • Managing rent arrears cases through the legal recovery process, including possession proceedings and enforcement action., • Preparing court documentation, witness statements and supporting evidence for possession applications., • Attending court hearings and representing the organisation where required., • Liaising with legal teams, court officials and enforcement agencies to progress cases., • Providing residents with advice on rent payments, welfare benefits and financial difficulties., • Supporting residents with Universal Credit, Housing Benefit and Discretionary Housing Payment applications., • Working closely with Housing Officers, Finance Teams and external agencies to prevent homelessness and sustain tenancies., • Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with housing legislation and the Pre-Action Protocol for Possession Claims. What You Will Need • Previous experience working as an Income Officer, Rent Recovery Officer or Housing Officer with strong rent arrears experience., • Proven experience managing rent arrears and progressing cases through the income recovery process., • Practical experience preparing and issuing Notices of Seeking Possession (NOSPs)., • Experience attending court and handling possession proceedings relating to rent arrears., • Good knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy agreements and legal recovery procedures., • Experience negotiating repayment arrangements and completing income and expenditure assessments., • Understanding of Universal Credit, Housing Benefit and welfare benefits., • Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service skills., • Ability to manage a busy caseload independently and confidently handle challenging conversations., • Experience using NEC or Civica housing management systems would be advantageous., • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
