Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in earthworks and civil engineering projects? We’re representing a leading earthworks contractor delivering large-scale earthworks schemes across the North East and Yorkshire. This is a long-term opportunity for a commercially astute professional who thrives on taking ownership of projects — managing commercial strategy from tender through completion, safeguarding value, and driving cost efficiency throughout the delivery process. Quantity Surveyor - Yorkshire Are you ready to join a dynamic team driving excellence in house building? We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Yorkshire region who will contribute to delivering high-quality residential developments. The role is pivotal in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard, while maintaining adherence to the company’s Health and Safety policies. You will be responsible for procurement, cost planning, cost control, and general commercial oversight throughout the development process, helping to drive profitability and efficiency across all projects. The Role - Increase Trade Contractor Base Identify new Trade Contractor partners and maintain strong relationships with existing contractors Resolve issues proactively to ensure smooth project delivery All-Risk Procurement Tender for all-risk Road, Sewers, and Plot works Perform measurement ‘Take-Offs’ for Brickwork and Joinery labour works Cost Management and Reporting Compile and present site start budgets to the Commercial Manager Create subcontract tender comparisons for sign-off Compile accurate costs to complete valuations and periodic reporting Manage payment of trade contractors and agree variation values Uphold the company's ‘no order, no payment’ policy Cost Control Attend regular site visits and perform re-measurement of work on site where necessary Raise orders prior to management sign-off with appropriate documentation About you - • ONC, HNC (or equivalent) or qualified by experience, • HND or Degree qualified (desirable), • Experience in the construction industry, preferably in a house building environment, • Ability to work independently and remotely, • Strong communication and influencing skills, • Excellent numeracy and analytical abilities, • Ability to read and interpret specifications and working architectural drawings, • Commercial awareness and effective time management, • Confident negotiator and excellent communicator, • Highly motivated, resilient, and results-driven, • Ability to build strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders We believe Harron Homes is a place for everyone, no matter where you come from, what you look like or how you identify.
