Senior Quantity Surveyor – Highways & Drainage Postcode – OL1 3PA Overview We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major highways drainage infrastructure project for M Group Highways Limited. The successful candidate will play a key role in commercial and financial management across the project lifecycle, supporting procurement, contract administration, valuations, cost control, reporting, and subcontract management. This opportunity is ideal for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor with previous experience within highways, civils, infrastructure, or utilities environments. Key Responsibilities Pre-Contract Activities • Support tender activities and supplier engagement, • Work with Procurement teams to define work packages and contract terms, • Assist with tender evaluation and contract award processes Valuation & Contract Management • Produce accurate and contract-compliant valuations and applications, • Review and assure the quality of valuations completed by others, • Monitor certifications, payments, and cash receipts, • Manage valuation disputes, rejections, and non-compliance issues, • Maintain contract notices, records, and commercial correspondence, • Support and mentor junior commercial staff Supply Chain & Cost Management • Validate cost and financial data from internal systems, • Maintain accurate accruals and support margin performance, • Build strong working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, • Manage subcontract administration, onboarding, accounts, and notices, • Support project cost management planning Financial & Commercial Reporting • Prepare and review cost reports, actuals, liabilities, and accruals, • Maintain commercial reporting in line with company requirements, • Support risk and opportunity management processes, • Produce weekly and monthly CVRs, cashflow forecasts, and WIP reporting, • Assist with revenue and pipeline forecasting, • Provide insight into commercial performance trends and project risks Record Keeping & Compliance • Maintain valuation, payment, notice, and correspondence registers, • Ensure subcontract documentation and project records remain up to date, • Maintain site diaries, returns, and supporting documentation, • Keep risk and opportunity registers updated Essential Requirements • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor, • Strong commercial management and contract administration experience, • Experience within highways, civils, infrastructure, drainage, or utilities projects, • Knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial procedures, • Strong understanding of valuations, CVRs, forecasting, and cost control, • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, • Strong analytical and reporting skills Desirable Requirements • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, • Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain relationships, • Previous experience within highways drainage projects, • Professional membership such as RICS or CIOB Job Details • Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor, • Sector: Highways & Infrastructure, • Project: SDF 2.0 NW – Drainage, • Location: Huddersfield Road, OL1 3PA, • Contract Type: Temporary, • Start Date: ASAP / 08/06/2026, • Duration: 3–6 Months (TBC), • Working Hours: 08:00 – 17:00, • Pay Rate: £575 per day Umbrella PAYE, • IR35 Status: Inside IR35 About the Role This is an excellent opportunity to join a major infrastructure project with a well-established highways contractor.
