We are a practice of Chartered Building Surveyors of 30 years' standing, based in South London. We need an experienced, reliable and mature worker with the following skills for a 4-week run of work in Streatham Vale. The successful candidate will accompany an older, similarly experienced man: Rake out and re-point aged brick mortar joints with cement-based mortars; Rub down and prepare joinery and stone ready for decorations, using standard techniques; Apply standard filling materials to sharp, true lines; Run neat mastic beads; Clean PVCu windows; and Provide labour to help with fixing roof insulation. The site is residential, scaffolded to full height and has a “tin hat”. This vacancy has arisen due to one unexpected staff illness and one early retirement for family reasons. References required; the successful candidate will be a reliable, careful, methodical, polite worker used to achieving good trade standards. Start date Monday 29 September 2025. Day rate £300.00, 8.00am – 4.00pm. On successful completion, there may be scope for a more permanent position.
We are looking for Surveyors with either AssocRICS or MRICS status and with a minimum of at least 2 years experience in Level 2 Homebuyer and Level 3 Building Survey reports. We are also interested in speaking with Surveyors who are VRS registered or Surveyors that have previous experience in Party Wall work/Schedules of dilapidation and Planning Applications.
Key Responsibilities: Draw up budgets and timescales for property refurbishment projects based on client, landlord, and local authority requirements. Brief project teams, contractors, and suppliers on refurbishment specifications and delivery schedules. Assemble project documentation and records to support invoicing, compliance, and financial reporting. Plan and coordinate work schedules for refurbishment projects in consultation with Interior designer, surveyors, architects, and housing officers. Hire and supervise contractors or site staff, establish temporary site arrangements, and oversee delivery of materials. Regularly inspect and monitor refurbishment progress, ensuring quality standards, safety, and legal requirements are met. Identify defects or delays during refurbishment and propose corrective actions, while recording and reporting project progress to management and stakeholders.
