Role Description The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work on a full-time basis, ideally in Cheshire/UK contributing to the design, analysis, and delivery of complex mechanical systems and multidisciplinary engineering projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading mechanical design activities, performing calculations and simulations, reviewing CAD models and drawings, and ensuring compliance with relevant industry codes and standards. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams on R&D, concept development, FEED, detailed design, and sustaining engineering, while providing technical guidance to more junior engineers. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will also support project planning, coordinate with clients and internal stakeholders, and contribute to various forms problem-solving and design reviews. Participation in design reviews, documentation of engineering decisions, and continuous improvement of tools and processes are key aspects of the position. We expect you to be able and capable of modelling your designs, or building your analysis models in 3D CAD, using Solidworks or Similar. With an ability to create engineering drawings suitable for manufacture, whether that be fabrications, machining or assemblies. To help justify a design works, we use a significant amount of computer aided engineering in the form of Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Mechanics, Pipe Stress Analysis, Heat Transfer Analysis, Multi Body Dynamics, Structural Analysis and other forms of numerical analysis. Some of our tools include, ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, CAESARII,, ROHR2, Fluent, CFX, Cradle, ADMAS, STAAD, etc. We would expect you to be competent, skilled, and capable at using at least one of these technologies, or very similar. Equally, if we use some form of hand calculation - whether from first principals, or a design code, or OEM manual, or similar, we will do so, using MathCAD, Excel, Python, VBA, or similar. With the advent of AI, we shall be exploiting those opportunities more and more, butt he right way. To narrate your work, especially as a Consultant, it is essential you can write clear and concise Technical Reports and similar documents - this is a key way we communicate our work. Qualifications • Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with experience in mechanical system design and analysis., • Proficiency in Machine Design, including component selection, tolerance analysis, and application of relevant design codes and standards., • Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools for 3D modeling and simulation, • Demonstrated capability in Project Management, including planning, tracking, and delivering engineering work packages to schedule and budget., • Background in Research and Development (R&D), concept generation, and innovation for new or improved products, systems, or processes., • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering (ideally a 1st or a 2:1) or a closely related discipline; chartered or professional engineer status (or working toward it) is highly desirable., • Familiarity and expertise with FEA, CFD, or other advanced engineering analysis tools and methods is an advantage., • Experience in regulated industries
