Hewn Yorkshire is a small, independent hospitality business offering peaceful, adults-only cabin escapes in the North Yorkshire countryside. Set within the grounds of Forcett Grange near Richmond, our 12 cabins are designed around the simple idea that getting away should give you the chance to properly switch off. Private wood-fired hot tubs, outdoor fires, a Finnish sauna and the surrounding countryside all play their part – but ultimately, it's the experience that matters. We're a small, hands-on team, and we're looking for someone who takes as much pride in the little things as we do. We're looking for an experienced, organised and hands-on House Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our guest and housekeeping operations. This is an important role within our small team. You'll be the person making sure the site is ready for guests, the housekeeping operation runs smoothly, enquiries are dealt with, supplies are where they need to be and problems are dealt with before they become problems for our guests. You'll work closely with our housekeeping and outdoor teams, coordinating the day-to-day workload and making sure everyone knows what needs to happen and when. You'll also be the main point of contact for guests during their stay, providing a warm, helpful and efficient reception service. It's a genuinely hands-on management role. Some days you'll spend more time coordinating the operation and dealing with guests; on quieter days you'll be getting stuck into laundry, helping with a clean, carrying out a deep clean, checking cabins or organising stock. We're not looking for someone who expects to sit behind a desk all day. • Taking ownership of the day-to-day guest experience, • Providing a warm and efficient reception service, including check-ins and check-outs, • Dealing with guest enquiries, requests and day-to-day issues, • Responding to routine guest communications and ensuring enquiries are dealt with promptly, • Making sure cabins are fully prepared and presented to our standards before every arrival, • Being a visible and approachable point of contact for guests during their stay, • Coordinating the housekeeping team's daily workload around occupancy and arrivals, • Allocating cabin cleans and ensuring the right work is completed at the right time, • Carrying out regular cabin and site inspections and maintaining our standards of presentation, • Carrying out cleans, deep cleans and spot cleans when required, • Managing the daily flow of laundry, linen and housekeeping equipment, • Making sure clean linen and supplies are available when the team needs them, • Monitoring stock levels and ordering cleaning products, guest supplies, linen and other operational essentials, • Organising shopping and collection of supplies where required, • Identifying maintenance issues and ensuring they are reported and followed up, • Working closely with the Outdoor Team to make sure cabins and surrounding outdoor areas are fully guest-ready, • Providing day-to-day direction and support to the housekeeping team, • Planning workloads and adjusting them when occupancy or circumstances change, • Helping the team maintain consistent standards, • Spot-checking work and addressing issues constructively, • Being the person the team can come to with day-to-day operational questions, • Working collaboratively with the Outdoor Team and management We're looking for someone who is naturally organised, practical and dependable, with previous experience in hospitality, housekeeping, accommodation or a similar operational environment. You’ll need to be comfortable taking responsibility rather than waiting to be told what to do. You will probably be someone who notices that the laundry needs doing before somebody asks. You'll spot the missing supplies, notice that something isn't quite right in a cabin and deal with it. You'll be comfortable making sensible decisions within your role and letting us know when something needs escalating. You’ll also need to be comfortable switching between different types of work. One morning might involve checking cabins and organising the housekeeping team. The next hour might be spent answering a guest enquiry. Later, you might be sorting laundry, helping with a clean or receiving a stock delivery. The role is physically active and you'll be on your feet for much of the day. • Have previous hospitality, hotel, holiday-let or accommodation experience, • Have experience coordinating or supervising a small team, • Have excellent attention to detail, • Are confident dealing with guests, • Are highly organised and able to prioritise without constant direction, • Take pride in maintaining high standards, • Are practical and happy to get stuck in, • Communicate clearly and calmly, • Can work independently and use their own initiative, • Are reliable, trustworthy and comfortable taking responsibility, • This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, worked over 5 days from 7 on a rota., • The role will include some weekend and Friday working, with your days off rotating as part of a two-week rota., • £28,000–£30,000 salary depending on experience, • 28 days annual leave including bank holidays, • Company pension, • Uniform, • Free on-site parking, • Use of our on-site facilities, • Due to our rural location, a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.
