Transport/Yard Manager & Luton Van Driver Self-Employed Contractor Position • Based in London • Multiple Sites Across Greater London About the Role We are a London-based construction logistics company operating multiple live projects across Greater London. We are looking for an organised, hands-on Transport & Yard Manager + Luton Van Driver to take ownership of our depot/storage yard and the day-to-day coordination of our driver team, while also getting behind the wheel of a Luton van when required. This is a self-employed contract role with genuine scope for growth and development as the business expands — an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build real responsibility within a growing company, not just drive a van. Key Details Job Title Transport/Yard Manager & Luton Van Driver Contract Type Self-employed / subcontractor Location London, with travel to project sites across Greater London Normal Hours 07:30 – 17:30, Monday – Friday (50 hours/week) Weekend Work May be required from time to time, paid at the overtime rate Base Pay Starting Salary: £18.00 per hour × 50 hours/week = £900.00 per week Overtime / Weekend Rate £27.00 per hour Vehicle Company Luton van — fuel and insurance covered by the company Growth Potential Strong potential for growth and development within the company Key Responsibilities • Organise and manage the depot/storage yard, keeping stock, equipment and materials tidy, secure and easy to locate., • Plan and coordinate pickup and drop-off routes for the wider team of drivers across our Greater London project sites., • Liaise with head office daily to understand client requirements and ensure deliveries and collections are scheduled accordingly., • Drive a Luton van yourself when required, covering routes and deliveries across London., • Assist with the loading and offloading of goods and materials, ensuring items are handled safely and correctly., • Act as a point of contact between the depot, drivers, and head office, flagging any issues or delays promptly., • Support the smooth day-to-day running of logistics operations across multiple concurrent construction projects. What We're Looking For • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan routes and manage yard operations efficiently., • Confidence to take a managerial/coordinating role, directing and liaising with other drivers., • Computer literate, comfortable using basic software/systems for scheduling and communication with head office., • Customer-focused approach, representing CLS professionally when dealing with clients and sites., • Physically able to assist with loading and offloading goods., • Full, clean UK driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years, with no drink- or drug-driving endorsements., • C1 License (up to 7,5 Ton) would be beneficial but not a pre-requisite., • Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently as a self-employed contractor. Additional Information • Fuel and van insurance are covered by the company., • It would be an advantage if the company van could be parked securely outside, or close to, your home overnight, reducing early-morning travel time into London., • Willingness to work occasional weekends when required, paid at the enhanced overtime rate of £27.00 per hour., • A genuine opportunity to grow with the company as it takes on more projects across Greater London.
