    Location: Sandy, Bedfordshire (office-based with national & occasional international travel) PointSCAN is seeking a motivated Trainee CAD / 3D Laser Survey Engineer to join our Sandy office. This role offers structured development within a specialist 3D laser scanning and digital surveying environment, supporting projects across utilities, water & wastewater, industrial, and hazardous-area sectors. The position combines site-based survey delivery with office-based data processing and 3D modelling, providing exposure to the full project lifecycle — from field capture through to engineering-grade deliverables. Role Overview The successful candidate will: • Undertake on-site surveys using traditional surveying methods and advanced 3D laser scanning technology., • Travel nationally and, where required, internationally to support project delivery., • Complete post-survey registration and processing of point cloud data., • Produce 2D CAD drawings and 3D models from point cloud datasets in accordance with client specifications., • Deliver outputs to defined quality standards and project tolerances., • Contribute to continuous improvement of technical workflows and business processes., • Operate within the framework of an established Quality Management System (QMS)., • Maintain and promote high standards of Health & Safety during site activities., • Undertake additional duties consistent with the level of responsibility as reasonably required., • Essential Requirements, • Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD, • Full UK driving licence, • Willingness to travel nationally (and occasionally internationally), • Strong attention to detail and structured approach to technical tasks, • Professional communication skills, • Desirable Experience, • Experience within the water or engineering industry, • Knowledge of site-based Health & Safety procedures, • What We Offer, • Structured technical development within a specialist 3D laser surveying business, • Exposure to advanced laser scanning technologies and digital modelling workflows, • National project experience across complex engineering environments, • A collaborative and technically focused working environment This role is ideal for a technically minded individual seeking long-term development within the growing field of digital surveying and 3D data capture.
