Job Description IES headquarters in Tempe, AZ, is seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant who has experience within construction or related industries. This person must be highly detailed and a team player. This person must have accrual accounting experience. Job Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports, and account reconciliations and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. Job Duties and Responsibilities: · Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and the Company’s policies and procedures · Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met · Responsible for preparation of journal entries, maintenance and reconciliation of Fixed Assets Accounting System, maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to Fixed Assets, and preparation of specified accounting records for month-end closing and analysis. · Complete Fixed Assets roll-forwards · Establish a physical inventory process and accounting control procedures for Fixed Assets · Prepare journal entries and related reconciliations for Prepaid Expenses and other asset accounts · Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities · Research issues/questions from the tax department and other groups · Interface with internal and external auditors and provide audit schedules and data · Self-manage assigned workload distribution. · Monitor, record, and report project/job administrative progress and project/work- related quality and safety issues and provide periodic reports on status to assigned supervisor. · Effectively coordinate and maintain all project financial documents, software system inputs, and related billing/invoicing issues per Company policies and procedures. · Monitor, record, and report project/work-related quality and safety issues to the assigned supervisor. · Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of expenses. · Establish a lease agreement accumulation process and accounting control procedures for Leases · Create, develop, implement, and revise project process improvement(s). · Able to preserve confidential information, self-sufficient problem solver, work with little or no supervision, and handle multiple projects simultaneously. · Other responsibilities as assigned. CPA preferred. · Must have at least two (2) years general office or accounting experience, minimum of 1 year of Fixed Assets experience · Must possess strong General Ledger Skills · Prefer a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related telecommunications or construction accounting position. · Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project) and general accounting software. · Must be able to effectively operate office equipment and computing devices commonly used in the industry. · Must meet Company minimum driving standards. · Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously. · Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to identify a project, create a project filing system, develop detailed associated administrative tasks, and manage these for project final record keeping and audit.
