Department/Unit: Neurosciences & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) - D5N Work Shift: Night (United States of America) Salary Range: $83,200.00 - $93,184.00 Job Description Summary The clinical Nurse contributes to the creation of a compassionate and caring environment for patients, families and colleagues through displays of kindness and active listening. We take patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, brain tumors, aneurysms, seizures, traumatic brain injuries, neuromuscular diseases and other diagnoses involving the neurologic system. The floor beds consist of patients requiring every 4-hour monitoring. Additionally, there are 7 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) beds embedded in the 21 neuro floor beds. These patients are seizure disorder patients admitted electively with their anti-convulsant medications on hold and hard wired to continuous EEG. This allows the physicians to identify the area of the brain where the seizures are occurring. Many of these patients become candidates for brain mapping with surgically placed grids to further pinpoint the area causing the seizures. This mapping allows the surgeon to determine if the patient would be a candidate for surgical removal of parts of the brain to stop seizure activity and still allow the patient to have functionality. Department/Unit: ICU-Surgical And Neuroscience - B2 Work Shift: Night (United States of America) Salary Range: $83,200.00 - $93,184.00 The Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) has a combined total of 30 intensive care beds designed to provide specialized care to the critically ill adult (14 and older) patient. The unit has a usual 50/50 split of patient population between the neuro and surgical patient population. The focus of care includes patients with life-threatening conditions related to major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, hemodynamic instability and failure to wean. The SICU and Neuro ICU patient needs encompass but are not limited to comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, treatment of laboratory values, ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring. Patients of all ages are seen 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. There is a total of 45 rooms in the ED, which includes 5 barco-lounger spaces for lower acuity patients. The Emergency Department is divided into five major zones: Major trauma and critical care, Resuscitation and minor care, Pediatrics, Acute care, and Rapid Care. There are two distinct waiting areas, one for pediatric patients and their families, and the other for all other visitors. There are 7 negative flow rooms, one of which is also an isolation room. Clinical and clerical workstations, nutrition areas, and supply and pharmaceutical dispensing machines are centrally located in each zone. A dedicated radiology suite, including 2 CTs, a DECONTAMINATION suite with a separate entrance, as well as a satellite lab are also located within the Emergency Department. The CASAC-T Counselor provides comprehensive assessment services to clients who may have substance use and mental health barriers to employment by applying clinical judgment to determine appropriate treatment needs and level of care. This includes performing SUD diagnostic screening, assessment, evaluation, orientation, treatment planning, case management, counseling, intervention, crisis intervention, patient education, reporting and record keeping in both individual and group counseling settings. The CASAC-T Counselor is also responsible for referrals and coordination of care in consultation with other professionals. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTONS • Intervention and employing a range of treatment modalities to include person centered evidence-based treatment approaches to include but not limited to motivational interviewing, stages of change, trauma informed care, anger management, medication assisted treatment, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and contingency management., • Ability to perform SUD and mental health screenings and intakes, orientation, SUD assessment, SUD diagnostic Impression, level of care as determined by LOCADTR, treatment planning, individual/group counseling, family interventions, psychoeducation, case management, crisis intervention, client education, referral, reporting and recordkeeping, care coordination and administrative supervision with regular supervision., • Participates in supervision regularly., • Develops and conducts group and individual counseling on a regular scheduled basis to caseload clients within the integrated outpatient program., • Obtain random observed urine samples according to established protocol., • Orients clients about program goals, objectives, rules and regulations, client’s obligations, right’s and program operations, • Knowledge of the obligation to engage in prevention as well as treatment techniques., • Maintains and updates referral services and resources that may be useful to our client population; makes referral when necessary and appropriate., • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in English including the ability to speak, write, comprehend aurally, and read at a level necessary to perform as a CASAC Counselor., • Participates in outreach functions to reengage client lost to contact and maintain census capacity., • Ability to complete all client progress update reports in a professional and timely manner to ensure coordination of care with client linkages to include the criminal justice system and entities., • Participates in program meetings and required trainings., • Ability to complete any reasonable tasks or requests made by a supervisor.
