Job Description About the Role: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive R&D Associate to join our dynamic Research & Development team in Freeport, NY. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting both the test kitchen and sample team in developing and improving our food products and processes. This position requires a strong foundation in baking or food science, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced test kitchen and production facility environment. The R&D Associate reports directly to the R&D Manager and will primarily be based in Freeport, NY, where both the Test Kitchen and Sample Storage facilities are located. This role involves daily movement between these two locations to provide comprehensive support to both the Sample Team and the Test Kitchen Team. Key Responsibilities: · Assist in the development, testing, and evaluation of new bakery items, ingredients, and formulations. · Support the preparation, execution, and meticulous documentation of bench samples. · Maintain and update internal databases, project trackers, and R&D records to ensure data accuracy and accessibility. · Requisition raw ingredients from the Production Floor and Warehouse for use in the Test Kitchen, completing ingredient transfers in the ERP system to accurately maintain inventory. · Help organize sensory evaluations and product tastings, compile valuable feedback, and meticulously document outcomes. · Interact with vendors to vet, order, receive, and accurately track raw materials and supplies necessary for R&D projects. · Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Production, and Marketing, to ensure seamless project execution. · Prepare and accurately label samples for internal use and customer presentations. Assist with packing, shipping, and logging samples in the ERP system. · Strictly follow all company policies and procedures related to food safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance. · Must be proficient with computer systems and applications relevant to the role. Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Culinary Arts, or a closely related field. · 1–2 years of experience in a food R&D or bakery environment is preferred. · Basic understanding of food processing principles and ingredient functionality. · Strong attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). · Good written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of a team. · Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project timelines in a dynamic environment. · Applicant must have a car for reliable transportation to and from the facility. Work Environment: This role operates across various environments including the Test Kitchen, Production facility, Warehouse, and Office settings. The position may require standing for extended periods, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and potential exposure to common food allergens and cold temperature environments. The Manager, FP&A is responsible for supporting departments within the Enterprise, focusing on financial operations of the Technology and Telecommunications businesses. This involves budgeting/forecasting, telecommunications billing, procurement, asset management and vendor management. This role is also responsible for assisting IT financial management with analysis of Operating and Capital Expenses and assisting with monitoring cost control and department initiatives. This position will also provide financial support for other departments in the Enterprise as needed. • Responsible for supporting the departments’ expense budget and forecast process by working with various departments to help distribute, prepare, and consolidate budgets, forecasts, and related reports., • Monitors departments’ performance. Prepares monthly budget variance reporting package, including analyzing and explaining budget versus actual results, • Assists in the forecast process, using data received by engaging department heads, in addition to analyzing past and present trends to project future expenses. Input new forecast into system, and analyze change from budget and previous forecast, • Performs ad-hoc financial analysis as required from CFO, CIO, VP IT Finance or department heads, • Enforces accurate time tracking for all operating and capital projects, • Assists in ensuring proper coding and prompt payment of all department invoices, • Lends a proactive expense control mindset, • Negotiates and maintains maintenance contracts for all hardware and software, • Oversees member(s) of accounting team., • Assist Corporate and Brand Controllers, as well as VP IT Finance, with monthly close, • Leads process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function, • Helps to organize and manage IT asset management program, • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company and financial concepts, • Ensures effective communication and collaboration between business functions on all financial matters, • Shows a commitment to continual self-improvement in order to learn and stay current with financial, Information Technology and procurement processes and best practices, • Other Duties and Assigned Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field or relevant years of experience., • 5+ years of experience in a Finance or Accounting position required, with exposure to financial support for Information Technology and/or procurement highly preferred, • 1-2 years supervisory experience, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to present information and ideas clearly and concisely, • Delivers informative well-organized presentations, • Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required. Attention to detail is a must, • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff in a collaborative environment, • Must possess the ability to ensure confidentiality and exercise considerable discretion in dealing with data and others, • Strong PC skills: Must have proficiency with all Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, • Possess technological skills sufficient to manage and build multiple databases, reports and workbooks, • Experience with billing and/or analysis of Cloud platforms preferred (Oracle Financials and Oracle EPM) is a plus The expected salary range for this position is $105,000-$115,000. The actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by the law. As our Manufacturing Engineer, you will interact with and support the machine shop production and personnel. The individual receives direction from the Plant or Manufacturing Engineering Manager or the Senior Manufacturing Engineer regarding methodology of manufacturing.
