Job Description Aeroflow Health – PRN Respiratory Therapist Location: Jersey City, NJ and covering parts of New York The Opportunity Within Aeroflow Sleep, the Clinical Sleep team is comprised of 50+ clinical staff. The clinical team is the face of our company and focuses on outstanding patient care. We educate patients on disease process, cleaning, and maintaining sleep equipment to help patients achieve a higher quality of life. Patient care is our passion. Your Primary Responsibilities We are currently seeking a PRN respiratory therapist or registered nurse who will assist with telemedicine and in-home CPAP and BiPAP setups with patients and their families. This position will start as one 8 hour shift per week utilizing telehealth and in home services with the potential over time to transition into a 3 12 hour full time position depending on the territory's necessity. The pay rate will be hourly and include mileage. There is no oncall, weekends, holidays, or night requirements currently. • Maintain HIPAA/patient confidentiality including providing private space for telehealth appointments., • Employee has an individual responsibility for knowledge of and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies., • Compliance is a condition of employment and is considered an element of job performance. Required Qualifications • Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist or Registered Nurse in the state of NJ, and be willing to obtain licensure in NY., • 1+ years’ experience in home health experience preferred but not required., • Must be able to navigate multiple browser windows and screens., • Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge of Respiratory Care Field and ability to act as a resource for peers and non-clinical staff., • Special Skills/Equipment: Must be highly organized and demonstrates ability to handle multiple tasks at a time. Job Duties Performs respiratory therapy procedures as per scope of service and NJ Board of Respiratory Therapy, either independently according to protocols or under physician orders, such as but not limited to: Administration of oxygen, aerosol and medicated aerosol therapy. Initiation, monitoring and maintenance of mechanical ventilation. Blood-Gas drawing (with certification) and Acid-Base analyses. Suctioning of patient airway, trach and mouth care, bronchial hygiene. CPR. Delivers, sets-up, monitors and changes medical gases as required. Intubation (with certification). Tracheostomy care. Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Performs cardiopulmonary evaluations and assessments and diagnostic procedures including but not limited to breath sounds, weaning parameters, point of function testing, ABG (arterial blood gases), discharge planning and possible home care needs. Assessments will include evaluation of treatment and/or procedure outcomes as compared to physician goals and appropriate follow-up action. Positions patients as required (e.g., by physician's orders, patient's condition, or therapy being administered). Responsible for the assembly, sequential operation, and calibration of equipment and accessories to implement associated therapeutic regimens including, but not limited to, teaching inpatients and outpatients incentive spirometry as appropriate; instructs patients and family before discharge on pulmonary rehabilitation procedures (e.g., deep breathing, use of equipment at home, suctioning procedures). Attends and participates in Medical Rounds and teaching conferences. Documents patient outcomes and maintains other required documentation in patient chart and department records according to departmental policies and procedures. Maintains open lines of communication with other disciplines to facilitate resolution of problems and patient care issues in a timely manner. Acts as resource or consultant to physicians, nurses, patients and families and to other Respiratory Care practitioners and the public to provide appropriate, tactful support and education when requested and required; provides clinical supervision of care given by Technicians as well as supporting higher-credentialed personnel. Performs infection control procedures (i.e. changing resuscitator bags, aerosol set-ups and recycling same as required); processes equipment on an as-needed basis. Reports problems or unusual circumstances to appropriate member of health care team. In order to determine a treatment plan with the physician, you perform and document an initial assessment. QUALIFICATIONS • Associate degree with a major in respiratory therapy., • Current NJ respiratory care practitioner license., • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certified respiratory therapist (CRT) OR registered respiratory therapist (RRT) certification required upon hire., • Basic life support (BLS) certification required upon hire (from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association)., • Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) certification required within 2 months of hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association., • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
