Position Overview The Academic Operations Director leads the strategy, systems, and performance of academic operations across the network. The role builds and manages processes that ensure quality, equity, and consistency while supervising team members and using data and feedback to improve outcomes. As a member of the Schools Team, this leader oversees the operational systems—such as timelines, materials, and coordination—that enable strong teaching and learning across campuses. We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker Supervisor, LMSW, who will play a key role on an interdisciplinary team supporting the holistic wellness of older adults. The Senior Social Worker Supervisor will maintain a caseload of older adult clients from WCBL and EA 202 Housing (Podell and Alliance Apartments). Assist clients with a range of complex issues related to aging: facilitate client-led goal setting and attainment; provide concrete case assistance, referrals, and routine follow-up; and provide psychoeducation, advocacy, and supportive contact. Coordinate and/or develop and facilitate regular group workshops for clients to address shared needs and promote community well-being. RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide onsite task supervision to the WCBL social services team., • Participate in case conferences and/or group supervision., • Appropriately assign cases to WCBL social services staff and interns., • Maintain a caseload of older adult clients: conduct intakes and comprehensive assessments of clients’ strengths, needs, and challenges; formulate ongoing care plans and recommend appropriate intervention strategies; and routinely follow-up., • Provide case assistance, assisting clients to obtain concrete services, such as completion of applications/renewals for housing and benefits and entitlements; and complete related forms in the NYC Aging electronic record., • Make strategic referrals and advocate for service type, frequency, and intensity., • Provide supportive contact to help clients address challenges with daily living., • Facilitate or co-facilitate relevant psychosocial, psychoeducational, and/or mental health workshops and/or group series for community members., • Maintain documentation following funder’s prescribed format and time guidelines: update client information and enter supervisory case review notes, client case notes, and units in electronic record; and complete case review, case assistance, and information and referral logs., • Work collaboratively as part of the Older Adult Programs team, providing office and meal program support when needed, participating in the organizing and executing of WCBL events, and coordinating workshops and events at EA’s 202 Housing., • Coordinate with internal partners and external agencies to ensure best care for clients and provide professional development opportunities for staff., • Attend supervisory, program, agency, and community meetings as required., • Provide or ensure access to interpretation and translation services for clients., • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s) and/or WCBL director. The social worker will work with a group of 15-20 participants who have caused harm in their relationships providing individual and group counseling. The social worker will work collaboratively on the transformative initiatives team comprised of social workers, facilitators, and coordinators to provide a range of community-based therapeutic interventions engaging in individuals causing harm in their relationships. The Jail Population Review Program reviews incarcerated individuals for opportunities for pretrial release or case resolution. THE OPPORTUNITY This postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology is a collaboration between the Center and Columbia University that focuses primarily on forensic assessment with an opportunity to provide psychotherapy to individuals re-entering the community from incarceration. Postdoctoral fellows conduct forensic assessments mainly for the Jail Population Review Program. The Jail Population Review Program provides a number of clinical consultation services, including independent clinical assessment, review of medical records, and psychological testing when indicated. The postdoctoral fellowship is a one to two-year, full-time program providing advanced training at the intersection of psychology and law. Fellows gain supervised experience conducting psychological evaluations in the criminal court context, primarily brief and comprehensive clinical assessments of incarcerated people, as well as violence risk assessments (general violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence) using the Structured Professional Judgement (SPJ) approach, criminogenic risk and needs assessments, and mitigation psychological evaluations. Fellows also conduct psychological evaluations and testing to assist the courts in developing treatment plans for those involved in court-mandated treatment, such as mental health courts or other alternative-to-incarceration programs. In collaboration with Columbia University, fellows may conduct psychotherapy with one participant of the Columbia Reentry Initiative under the supervision of Columbia’s faculty or audit a graduate level forensic psychology course at Columbia University (Forensic Assessment or Correctional Psychology). The Columbia Reentry Initiative at the Dean Hope Center for Educational and Psychological Services at Teachers College is a no-cost, evidence-based and trauma-informed psychological treatment program designed to support adults reentering to the community following incarceration. Postdoctoral Psychologists attend weekly multidisciplinary case discussions and monthly didactic seminars covering topics such as case law relevant to forensic psychology, report writing for legal audiences, cultural considerations in forensic work, and other topics related to forensic assessment. Postdoctoral Psychologists report to the Supervising Forensic Psychologist and receive clinical supervision from the Supervising Forensic Psychologist and the Senior Director of Forensic Psychology in order for the candidate to become licensed within 18 months of employment. Of note, this is a postdoctoral position and therefore a full-time position after licensure is not guaranteed. The Postdoctoral Psychologist will work with stakeholders, including judges, defense attorneys, prosecutors, special jurisdiction courts, ATI programs, Correctional Health Services, and the Department of Correction.
