BUJNYC seeks a Supervising Staff Attorney will be responsible managing a small team of staff attorneys to preserve habitable and affordable housing for low-income tenants who are living in Queens, New York and who are at risk of displacement.Handling their own reduced case load, they will represent tenants in city, state, and federal court proceedings, administrative hearings, and affirmative litigation meant to assist tenants in obtaining repairs and essential services and otherwise assert and secure their rights. if a client did not attend assist with rescheduling & addressing any barriers, • Utilize motivational interviewing if a client does not want to participate or be linked to treatment; attempt to understand your client’s perspective or misconceptions, remove any barriers, and attempt to re-engage, • Provide therapeutic groups (music, art, general support groups, etc.); facilitate group work to address family issues, enhance life skills, etc., • Participate in meetings with case management & housing staff to discuss planning efforts & progress, • Assist clients with completing applications for supportive housing and accompany residents to supportive housing interviews when necessary, • Upon linkage to permanent housing, complete and discuss exit summary with the client, and provide them with referrals and supportive services identified in new community, • Utilize fact sheets, desk guides, and other material resources in delivering mental health services, • Complete all documentation in a timely manner;
