Deburr various metal parts using stationary abrasive wheels, handheld rotary air tools, and hand scraping devices. Apply abrasives to parts to remove sharp edges left as a byproduct of machining. We are looking for Senior Heavy Duty Mechanic at our Santa Clarita Hauling Division SALARY RANGE: $38.15 - $39.15 + $3000.00 Hiring Bonus * ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Will perform major and minor engine repairs and accessories, • Will respond to road call and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, • Diagnoses/rebuild/repair vehicles and equipment., • Performs detailed inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment., • Troubleshoot, diagnose, remove and repair engines., • Remove and replace transmissions and brakes., • Repair, mount and dismount tires., • Repair and replace hydraulic hoses., • Remove and replace breaks, • Prepares and maintains records and reports., • Must follow all safety procedures and policies. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance., • Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs. Safety practices and procedures., • Working knowledge of:, • Mechanical design and fabrication., • Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems., • Skill in:, • Use of power and hand tools., • Use of diagnostic equipment., • Acetylene and electric arc welding., • Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes., • Ability to:, • Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays., • Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field., • Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 75 pounds., • Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions., • Prepare and maintain records and reports., • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public., • Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications., • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: • Minimum of 5 years exp. on heavy duty diesel and gasoline truck repair., • Valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record, required PHYSICAL: • Must be able to lift and pull 75 lbs., • Physical demands include bending, lifting, reaching, climbing, and standing. WORKING CONDITIONS: • Will be exposed to outdoor weather heat, cold, rain, wind., • Will be exposed to moderate levels of noise and dust., • Will be exposed to working on slippery conditions and cramped positions., • Work is performed around, vibrations, moving objects, noise, dirt, dust, chemicals, fuels including diesel, gasoline, and various natural gases.
