Job Description Graphic Designer & Social Media Coordinator Full-Time Position Location: Albany, NY About Us In Our Own Voices, Inc. (IOOV) is a Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) led LGBTQ+ organization committed to the health, safety, housing, healing, advocacy, and liberation of our communities. For over 25 years, IOOV has been creating bold, affirming, community-centered spaces while providing direct services, advocacy, leadership development, and culturally responsive programming throughout New York’s Capital Region and beyond. We are not looking for someone who simply “posts flyers.” We are looking for a creative storyteller, visual strategist, and culture builder who understands the power of media, design, and digital organizing in movement work. Position Summary The Graphic Designer & Social Media Coordinator will lead the visual identity and digital presence of IOOV. This person will create compelling graphics, campaigns, videos, and online content that elevate our mission, increase engagement, and move the community to action. The ideal candidate understands LGBTQ+ BIPOC culture, community-centered messaging, and how to create visuals and digital content that are both impactful and authentic. This role requires creativity, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Responsibilities Graphic Design & Creative Content • Design flyers, event materials, brochures, digital campaigns, sponsorship packets, annual reports, and branded materials., • Create graphics and promotional content for events, including BIPOC Pride, Jazz in July, health campaigns, conferences, and community initiatives., • Develop creative social media graphics, reels, videos, and visual storytelling content., • Maintain and strengthen IOOV’s visual brand identity across all platforms. Social Media & Digital Engagement • Manage IOOV’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube., • Develop and maintain a content calendar with consistent, engaging, and mission-driven content., • Create content that educates, inspires, mobilizes, and celebrates LGBTQ+ BIPOC communities., • Monitor analytics, trends, engagement, and platform growth., • Respond to comments and messages in a professional, affirming, and community-centered manner. Marketing & Communications • Assist in the promotion of programs, services, events, fundraising campaigns, and organizational initiatives., • Support email marketing campaigns, newsletters, and digital outreach., • Assist with photography, videography, and event coverage., • Work collaboratively with staff and community partners to elevate IOOV programming and impact. Community & Organizational Support • Attend select community events, campaigns, and organizational functions., • Support outreach and visibility efforts for IOOV initiatives., • Maintain organized digital files, templates, and marketing materials. Qualifications • Experience in graphic design, social media management, marketing, communications, or related work., • Strong skills in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or other creative platforms., • Experience managing social media accounts professionally., • Strong written communication and storytelling skills., • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines., • Knowledge of LGBTQ+ communities, racial justice, health equity, and community-centered messaging strongly preferred., • Photography, video editing, and website experience are a plus.
