Job Description Job Summary: Performs a variety of daily activities within the Support Services Department, functioning as a Phlebotomist across inpatient, outpatient, and off-site settings (such as Skilled Nursing Facilities and Pre-Admission Testing units). Responsible for accurate specimen collection, test order entry, and patient interaction while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and Service Excellence. When assigned to PAT, performs EKGs as required. Key Responsibilities: • Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection procedures, including venous/capillary venipuncture, 24-hour and random urine collections, H. pylori breath tests, and glucose tolerance testing., • Verify patient identity and ensure compliance with all collection protocols and fasting requirements., • Enter test orders and patient data into the EHR accurately; verify medical necessity and obtain required documentation (consents, authorizations, ABNs)., • Prioritize workload efficiently, managing STAT, routine, and timed specimen collections within established turnaround times., • Serve as outpatient reception support—greet patients, manage check-ins, prioritize fasting patients, and coordinate clerical and specimen-related functions., • Monitor patients during and after procedures, promptly addressing any adverse reactions and notifying nursing/medical staff as needed., • Minimum of 3 months of phlebotomy experience in an acute care setting., • Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
