Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Resource Coordinator will facilitate the program referral process for BJI’s Felony Alternative to Incarceration programming. They will review all available information about each potentially eligible participants to determine their specific suitability for all BJI programming. Once participants are enrolled in programming, the Resource Coordinator will provide written and verbal updates to the court including defense attorneys, assistant district attorneys, and judges on a regular basis. The Resource Coordinator is also responsible for providing court coverage to various Supreme Court parts, including specialized court initiatives such as Brooklyn Mental Health Court, as well as coordinating off-calendar case conferences with defense counsel and assistant district attorneys. Specific responsibilities include conducting screenings and assessments with participants for all programming, case management, facilitating participant releases and other processes with court stakeholders, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. BJI is seeking a Court Operations Specialist to serve as a court navigator and liaison for all diversion programming. Reporting to the Manager of Court Operations and Compliance, the Court Operations Specialist will facilitate the referral process by reviewing available information for each potential participant to assess suitability for program placement and curriculum alignment. Once participants are enrolled, the Court Operations Specialist is responsible for providing timely written and verbal compliance updates to all court stakeholders within Kings County Criminal and Supreme Court, including defense attorneys, Assistant District Attorneys, judges, clerks, and other court staff. THE OPPORTUNITY Operating through Bronx Community Solutions (BCS), Bronx HOPE (Heroin Overdose Prevention Education) is a pre-arraignment diversion program being implemented in collaboration with the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, New York Police Department, Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, and several community-based health providers. The program provides meaningful engagement between arrest and arraignment to individuals in the Bronx issued a Desk Appearance Ticket (DAT) for possession of a controlled substance. This is an innovative, new effort to be smarter about policing and prosecuting addiction by responding to low-level possessions of controlled substances –especially opioids – with harm-reduction alternatives to conventional court proceedings that rely on jail or the threat of jail as the corrective measure. Bronx Community Solutions is seeking a Peer Supervisor, Bronx HOPE to provide supervision to the daily dispatch operations of the HOPE Program and to the team of Peer Specialists. The Peer Supervisor will assist with training, scheduling and dispatch operations to police precincts within established timeframes. Additionally, the Supervisor will manage all assessed individuals who are arrested for the possession and/or use of controlled substance and link them with appropriate services such as recovery support, harm reduction services, mental health care, crisis intervention, and more. Youth P.A.C.T sits on the Center's centralized Restorative Practices team and aims to address the root causes of gun carrying and violence identify supportive and protective factors for its young participants. The program provides a forum for young people and their loved ones to improve mutual understanding and communication, while facilitating connections to critical community-based resources. Using a restorative justice framework, the program includes two components over roughly 12 weeks: One-on-one sessions and restorative circles. Reporting to a Senior Program Manager for Restorative Practices, the Program Manager's responsibilities will include program administration and coordination, iterating on the Youth P.A.C.T program model in collaboration with team members, supervising a Restorative Case Manager, providing case management services to young people and families, facilitating restorative justice processes, and liaising with the Law Department, Family Court, other CJI sites, and community stakeholders.
