Job DescriptionSalary: $45 to $60 Hourly Queens Surgical Center is NYCs premier ambulatory surgery center (ASC), providing high-quality healthcare services and facilities to the patients, physicians and communities in our network. Our fully equipped state-of-the art surgery center provides a safe, warm and supportive environment for patients to receive the highest standards of outpatient surgical care for a variety of needs. Position Summary: The Post-Operative Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients recovering from surgical procedures in an ambulatory surgical center (ASC) setting. The RN will monitor patients emerging from deep sedation or general anesthesia, assess for complications, manage pain and nausea, and ensure patients meet established discharge criteria. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced outpatient surgical environment. Key Responsibilities: • Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia nursing care to outpatient surgical patients., • Conduct focused nursing assessments, including airway, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and pain evaluations., • Monitor patients emerging from deep sedation or general anesthesia, ensuring airway patency and adequate ventilation., • Perform and interpret hemodynamic monitoring., • Recognize and respond promptly to early signs of post-operative complications., • Manage post-operative pain and nausea according to established protocols and physician orders., • Ensure a safe patient care environment consistent with regulatory and accreditation standards., • Promote evidence-based practice and participate in quality improvement initiatives., • Adhere to infection control, medication administration, and safety protocols., • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely., • Provide clear post-operative education to patients and families., • Ensure patients meet strict discharge criteria prior to release., • Deliver detailed discharge instructions, including medication guidance, wound care, and follow-up care requirements., • Communicate effectively with anesthesiologists and surgeons regarding patient status and any suspected complications., • Collaborate with clinical team members to facilitate safe transitions of care., • Escalate concerns promptly according to established clinical protocols., • Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required., • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York required., • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required., • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required., • 02 years of nursing experience preferred., • Fluent in English. Bilingual abilities are strongly preferred, including Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Korean and Russian., • New graduates are encouraged to apply., • Prior experience in PACU, ICU, ER, or ASC settings is a plus but not required. Schedule: • Typical schedule: Monday-Friday (with possibility of early morning start for first case). Weekends sometimes., • No major holidays or weekends (though some ASCs may require occasional flexibility).
