The NYC Free Tax Prep Assistant Site Manager is responsible for overseeing, managing and training of all volunteers for the NYC Free Tax Prep Program. They will keep current on tax law and Workforce Development Department services and ensure that volunteers are informed of both. They will recommend and implement creative solutions to enhance and administer the program with efficiency. The Assistant Site Manager recognizes, and coordinates based on any additional demands in the community, as the tax services under Workforce Development continue to grow. The Assistant Site Manager must be able to commit to the work flexible hours as required by the demands of the tax season per week during tax season, with the ability to work evenings and Saturdays. During the off-season, hours normal business hours are kept unless projects or other needs of the program arise, including administrative responsibilities. RESPONSIBILITIES * Become IRS Advanced Tax Preparer certified. * Ensure quality, accuracy, security and compliance of tax returns * Understand and be capable of researching tax code. * Obtain successful site visit audits and post-tax season audits * Help establish and monitor the NYC Free Tax Prep budget. * Keep informed of changes in tax law and convey changes to volunteers. * Oversee, manage and train volunteers. * Manage successful coordination of tax preparation site and volunteers. * Establish the appointment schedule for each site and continue to update and monitor. * Assist in obtaining volunteers and marketing the NYC Free Tax Prep program. * Inform and encourage clients to utilize BronxWorks WFD and other financial stability services. * Ensure program adherence to all IRS guidelines and rules. * Assist in the management of timely submission and acceptance of all tax returns, follow-up with any IRS rejections, and resubmit for acceptance in a timely manner. * Build volunteer capacity and community networks in support of the VITA program. * Coordinate the ongoing reporting process and respond to opportunities for improvement. * Be a strong ambassador for the NYC Free Tax Prep program and BronxWorks * Work flexible hours, with availability to work some evenings and Saturdays, with prior notice. * Required to travel to developments, sites, events, and other various locations across the Bronx * And other duties as assigned by Program Director, Associate Vice President and Vice President of Workforce Development COMPETENCIES AND VALUES • Mission Focused, • Strong attendance and punctuality, • Strong planning and organizing, • Relationship Oriented, • Collaborator, • Results Driven, • Commitment to Community Success, • Leadership, • Integrity and Accountability, • Communication - Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability effectively to communicate in a variety of ways including public speaking, small group meetings, one-on-one meetings and written materials., • Teamwork -Collaborate with other NYC Free Tax Prep staff with the ability to work as a member of a team, • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, • Quantity - Meets productivity standards; completes work in timely manner QUALIFICATIONS * High School diploma preferred or equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree * Engaging personality and detailed orientated skills are essential. Confident, honest and reliable. * Ability to pass IRS Advance level tax preparer test. (Training is provided.) * Tax or project management experience. * Ability to organize workload and work effectively and produce measurable results with minimal supervision. * Volunteer management or extensive volunteer experience strongly preferred. * Supervision/Management/Leadership experience. * Strong written and oral communications skills, including public speaking. * Customer service oriented, compassionate, ability to work with different demographics.
