Job Description Special Education Teacher (SETSS) — Manhattan, NY (Part-Time School Day or After School) Overview/Impact Are you a dedicated Special Education Teacher ready to make a meaningful impact on students' academic success in Manhattan? Knowledge Road is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher (SETSS) to join our team and provide critical support to students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools. With a significant city-wide shortage of qualified special education professionals, your expertise is urgently needed to ensure students receive the individualized instruction they deserve. This is an opportunity to work directly with students who need specialized academic support, helping them achieve their educational goals through targeted intervention and evidence-based instruction. As a SETSS provider with Knowledge Road, you will deliver individualized and small-group instruction in school settings, working collaboratively with families and school teams to support student progress and academic achievement. Responsibilities As a Special Education Teacher (SETSS) with Knowledge Road, you will: * Provide high-quality, individualized, and small-group instruction to students with disabilities, in accordance with their Individualized Education Service Programs (IESP). * Ensure fulfillment of each student's weekly IESP mandates and maintain an intervention schedule aligned to the school timetable. * Prepare and submit quarterly progress reports and maintain bi-weekly family communication with clear updates on progress and next steps. * Record service delivery and student performance in Knowledge Road's system with accurate, timely documentation. * Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that address the specific academic, social, and emotional needs of each student. * Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other school staff to create a supportive and an inclusive learning environment for your students. * Monitor and track student progress, providing regular updates to families and school-based teams. * Participate in IESP meetings as needed, providing valuable insights and recommendations to support student success. Qualifications * Must-Have: * NYS Students with Disabilities (B-2, 1-6, 7-12, or All Grades) or NYS Literacy Specialist. * Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. * Must not have been employed by NYC DOE within the last 12 months. * Experience teaching Math and ELA. * Reliable transportation. * NYC DOE fingerprinting status/approval is required, or a willingness to obtain them before starting. New York, NY 10003: Group/Individual setting, grades 4-8. New York, NY 10009: Individual setting, grade 3. New York, NY 10016: Individual setting, grade 9. New York, NY 10010: Individual setting, grade 10. New York, NY 10011: Group setting, grades 2-8. New York, NY 10021: Group setting, grades 5-8. New York, NY 10065: Group setting, grades 9-12. New York, NY 10075: Group setting, grades K-8. New York, NY 10128: Individual settings - grade 11; grades 5-8 Schedule & Location This is a part-time, school-day, or after-school position with a flexible schedule that aligns with the NYC DOE calendar. You will be providing services on-site at one school or at the child's home in Brooklyn, with specific assignments based on student needs. Hours/week are driven by IESP mandates; caseload may vary by assignment. Typically ~5-15 hours/week in school-day or after-school blocks. Compensation $60 - $100 per hour (1099).
