QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position: Education and Training • Possess an earned D.C., Ph.D., or terminal degree in a related field., • If D.C., licensed to practice as a Doctor of Chiropractic in New York State for teaching clinical science subjects, e.g. CLS, DIA, and TCH courses. General Description: Reporting to the Dean of Clinical Education/Assistant Dean of Clinical Education, the Faculty Clinician is responsible to supervise and work with clinical students to provide quality patient care and complete required documentation for both patient care and student education. The position is an appointment requiring service to the College divided among teaching, research and scholarly activity, and citizenship in a manner that promotes continuity and equality among faculty, staff and students. Organizational Relationships: • Responsible to the Dean of Clinical Education/Assistant Dean of Clinical Education., • Works closely with health center faculty, staff and students. General Responsibilities: The faculty consists of all individuals in the employ of Northeast holding academic rank and engaged in instructional, scholarly and professional, or academic service activities for the College. These activities include, but are not limited to: laboratory, classroom, online, and health center instruction; work of professional librarians; course and curriculum development; research; participation in student advising, enrollment management functions, College governance; and service to one’s profession. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: • Manage patient care within the approved policies and procedures of the Northeast health centers., • Develop and utilize relevant marketing to grow faculty practice expectations per the Faculty Handbook to support student learning., • Responsible for all patient health care decisions to include evaluation, management and recordkeeping., • Be a consultation resource for other faculty members., • Provide hands on mentoring and foster a critical thinking environment for student education., • Oversee student conduct, proficiency, professionalism and compliance with health center standards., • Oversee and issue quantitative and qualitative credits and provide feedback to students regularly., • Assist with clinical education activities (evaluations, orientation, remediations, OSCE, mentor meetings, etc.) as needed., • Engage students in a variety of clinical activities while ensuring appropriate continuity of patient care., • Participate in health center meetings as well as mandatory professional development activities., • Maintain clean and orderly patient treatment areas and report any equipment needing repair., • Participate on College committees and task forces as assigned., • Maintain active involvement with professional, national and state organizations important to clinical, educational, and administrative responsibilities., • Develop a professional development plan in conjunction with the Dean of Clinical Education/Assistant Dean of Clinical Education., • Other duties as assigned. Methods of Accountability • Verbal and written communications with the Dean of Clinical Education/Assistant Dean of Clinical Education , health center faculty, staff and students as well as other College stakeholders., • Written feedback from students, patients and other College constituents., • Annual performance evaluations by the Dean of Clinical Education/Assistant Dean of Clinical Education ., • Compliance with College’s policies. Mental and Physical Requirements • Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills., • Professional demeanor., • Basic proficiency in PC use and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and willingness to learn/use additional software platforms used for electronic health records and student education., • Manage stressful situations in a fast-paced, multi-task work environment., • Perform all services expected of a licensed clinician and exhibit responsible clinical judgement., • Occasional travel may be required. Education, Training and Experience • Doctor of Chiropractic degree., • Appropriate professional licensure to practice in New York State., • Post-graduate degrees, diplomates and certificates are preferred., • Ongoing professional development is expected. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Gathers sufficient information for each client to make a diagnostic assessment necessary to determine assignment priorities and treatment plan or referral to the treatment resources in the community., • Implements appropriate crisis services when needed to prevent decomposition and moves client toward an appropriate treatment plan and enhances adaptive functioning., • Shares information about the Agency and its services in order to help clients and other interested parties participate in treatment decisions, set appropriate goals and better understand the functions of the center., • Helps clients to become effective consumers of mental health and substance abuse services through information sharing, empowerment and transcendence of the stigma associated with those services., • Maintains client stability through a planned ongoing treatment relationship or assesses and helps implement changes in client functioning when indicated., • Regularly assesses with supervisor the progress of the client's treatment and is open to recommendations for improvement., • Assists clients in developing appropriate expectations from treatment., • Assists the client in understanding the need for cooperation with fee and insurance responsibilities by helping the client understand and resolve psychological and financial obstacles to payment., • Strengthens the ability of the client to understand and utilize therapy and find resources after treatment has ended through proper discharge planning and termination process., • Establishes and maintains appropriate and timely clinical case records, including, but not limited to, treatment plans, progress notes and treatment plan reviews, documenting appropriate therapeutic intervention with each client to the Agency, funding, licensing and billing authorities., • Exchanging information with other agencies that benefits the client, or ensures compliance with regulations and coordination of services., • Participates in all required internal and external meetings that appropriately represent the needs of the client and the Agency., • Utilizes and understands the value of supervision which increases practice skills, promotes better service for the client and preserves accountability to the Agency., • Supervises graduate and undergraduate students, when assigned, incorporating the needs of the client being serviced, the Agency, the education of the student and the University., • Facilitate sharing of data with the individuals to whom it applies to facilitate partnered decision-making and to keep clients informed of progress, • Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed., • Ability to cultivate a culture of inclusion for all employees that respects their individual strengths, views and experiences.
