Job Description Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Supervisor Location: Florham, Park NJ Shift: First Shift Send updated resume to kimartin@ aerotek.com for IMMEDIATE consideration The Maintenance Supervisor leads a hands on maintenance team in a specialty metals manufacturing environment, improving equipment reliability, strengthening preventive maintenance practices, and building a culture of ownership and accountability. This role starts with significant time spent on the floor working alongside technicians to learn the equipment and processes, then transitions toward strategic leadership, planning, and reducing reliance on outside contractors through developing and upskilling the internal maintenance team. • Lead and supervise the maintenance team in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, setting clear expectations and holding technicians accountable for performance and safety., • Work hands-on alongside maintenance technicians (initially around 60% of the time) to learn equipment, processes, and individual strengths and development needs., • Shift the maintenance department from a reactive, break-fix approach to a proactive, reliability-focused operation through improved preventive maintenance practices., • Develop, mentor, and upskill maintenance technicians to increase in-house capabilities and reduce the need for outsourced maintenance work., • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on industrial machinery and equipment., • Perform and oversee repairs, adjustments, and replacements on gearboxes, motors, motor controls, automation components, and other mechanical and electrical systems., • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to guide maintenance and repair activities., • Implement, manage, and optimize preventive maintenance programs, including scheduling, documentation, and follow-up using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)., • Monitor equipment reliability and maintenance performance, and prepare reports that highlight trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement., • Coordinate maintenance activities across multiple shifts, occasionally supporting second shift and overnight teams to build relationships and ensure consistent standards., • Collaborate with operations and production teams to minimize downtime and align maintenance priorities with production needs., • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and standards while working around large industrial presses and other heavy equipment., • Identify opportunities to reduce reliance on outside contractors by building internal expertise and improving maintenance processes., • Plan and delegate maintenance tasks as the role transitions toward more strategic leadership, resource allocation, and long-term maintenance planning. Essential Skills • Proven strong leadership skills in an industrial or maintenance environment, with the ability to earn respect by working alongside the team., • Hands-on experience as an industrial mechanic or maintenance mechanic in a heavy industrial setting., • Industrial maintenance experience with both mechanical and electrical systems, including repair and troubleshooting., • Ability to diagnose and repair issues involving hydraulics and pneumatics on industrial equipment., • Mechanical aptitude with experience working on gearboxes, motors, and motor control systems., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to support maintenance activities., • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance supervision., • Familiarity with automation systems and their maintenance requirements., • Proficiency using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for work orders, scheduling, and reporting., • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex equipment and systems., • Effective communication skills to coordinate with technicians and other departments., • Basic computer skills to manage documentation, reporting, and maintenance planning., • High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Industrial manufacturing experience is a plus., • Prior experience supervising maintenance technicians in a heavy industrial or metals manufacturing environment is highly beneficial., • Experience working with large industrial presses and similar heavy equipment is an advantage., • Strong organizational and reporting skills to track maintenance activities and performance., • Ability to build a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team., • Comfort working in a dirty, cold-in-winter and hot-in-summer environment with heavy machinery., • Good interpersonal skills to build relationships across multiple shifts and teams.Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Florham Park, NJ.
