Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor Job Description The Maintenance Supervisor leads and motivates a diverse maintenance team in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, ensuring assets are maintained, environmental protection standards are upheld, and operations remain sustainable. This is a first-shift, hands-on role where you work alongside technicians, collaborate closely with production teams, and ensure maintenance issues are addressed safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner. You will oversee daily maintenance activities, drive continuous improvement, and support the plant in achieving uptime and reliability targets. Responsibilities • Plan, coordinate, and delegate day-to-day maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner., • Work hands-on with the maintenance team to identify root causes of equipment issues and implement effective countermeasures., • Ensure accurate completion of work orders in the CMMS, capturing work details, labor hours, and parts used on a daily basis., • Resolve maintenance issues promptly and recommend measures to improve machine and equipment performance and reliability., • Develop and manage work schedules and assignments to ensure equipment is serviced within specified maintenance guidelines., • Maintain clear and consistent communication with the maintenance and production teams to support continuous improvement, safe practices, and root cause analysis., • Supervise and manage outside trades and contractors in accordance with contractor management guidelines., • Audit repairs completed by staff and contractors to ensure quality, completeness, and adherence to standards., • Meet and exceed downtime targets by optimizing repair and maintenance activities on all equipment., • Lead daily shift handoff meetings and ensure objectives, issues, and priorities are clearly communicated and addressed., • Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner and Operations to plan and execute tasks that minimize production interruptions., • Oversee, maintain, and continuously improve the preventive maintenance (PM) program., • Ensure shop cleanliness and organization (5S) are maintained as a high priority for all crews., • Draft and conduct regular performance reviews for maintenance team members., • Proactively identify and address team performance concerns and support the effective resolution of conflicts., • Monitor and manage shop tools, spare parts, and materials to ensure appropriate resources are available to expedite repairs., • Support the development of a strong maintenance team through on-the-job training, course recommendations, and consistent coaching and mentoring., • Participate in equipment reviews and design changes to improve maintainability and performance., • Apply policies and practices in a fair and consistent manner across the team., • Ensure the plant has 24/7 maintenance coverage and be available after hours for support when needed., • Schedule, monitor, and approve maintenance team hours in the timekeeping system, ensuring timely approval for payroll processing., • Participate actively in plant safety, health, and environmental programs and promote a strong safety culture., • Facilitate the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures by educating, training, monitoring, and coaching the team., • Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures to improve operations, reduce operating costs, and increase utilization of labor and materials. Essential Skills • Minimum 10+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment., • At least 3+ years of experience in a lead hand, lead technician, or supervisory role., • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for issuing and tracking work orders and scheduling preventive maintenance., • Strong maintenance supervision and maintenance management experience in a heavy industrial setting., • Hands-on experience in millwright or industrial maintenance work., • Proficiency in hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical repairs., • Experience with electrical troubleshooting and PLC troubleshooting., • Ability to perform welding and general maintenance repair activities., • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for production and process equipment., • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fluid power components, welding, and PLCs., • Experience using Microsoft Office and production/productivity software., • Familiarity with legislated requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and ability to ensure conformance., • Strong commitment to safety and demonstrated experience participating in plant safety, health, and environmental programs., • Proven ability to effectively problem solve and independently make sound decisions under pressure., • Ability to plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures to improve operations and optimize resource utilization., • Strong communication skills in English, both written and oral, with the ability to educate, train, and coach team members., • Prior lead or management experience overseeing maintenance technicians and coordinating with production teams. Work Environment This role is a first-shift position, typically Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. The facility is non-climate-controlled, so you should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions typical of a large industrial plant. The site is in the process of being brought back to full operation, offering the opportunity to help rebuild and optimize maintenance practices and equipment reliability. You will work with industrial machinery, electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, welding tools, and PLC-controlled systems, using a CMMS and production/productivity software as part of daily activities. The environment emphasizes safety, 5S shop organization, and collaboration between maintenance and production teams. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Cherry Hill, NJ.
