Job Description Assistant General Manager Location: New York, NY Overview: The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in overseeing all daily restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong financial performance, and a positive, high-performing team culture. This role requires a hands-on leader with excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced New York City environment. Key Responsibilities: • Assist the General Manager in directing all front-of-house and back-of-house operations to maintain consistent service standards and brand integrity., • Support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and ongoing development of staff, ensuring a motivated and well-trained team., • Maintain high levels of hospitality by engaging with guests, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring overall satisfaction., • Oversee inventory controls, ordering, vendor relations, and adherence to budgeted cost targets., • Ensure compliance with all NYC health, safety, and labor regulations, including DOH standards., • Monitor and analyze daily sales, labor, and operational reports to support financial performance goals., • Lead pre-shift meetings, communicate priorities clearly, and reinforce operational procedures., • Uphold cleanliness, organization, and safety protocols across all areas of the restaurant., • Support execution of special events, promotions, and seasonal initiatives., • Step into the General Manager role when needed to ensure smooth and continuous operations. Qualifications: • 2–4+ years of management experience in a high-volume, full-service or fast-casual restaurant., • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold teams accountable., • Excellent communication, guest-service, and conflict-resolution abilities., • Strong understanding of inventory, scheduling, cost control, and P&L fundamentals., • Knowledge of NYC Department of Health regulations and best practices., • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays., • ServSafe or Food Protection Certification preferred.
