Job Description About Company: Long Island Select Healthcare Inc. (LISH) is a comprehensive network of community health centers. We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides Article 16 and 28 clinic services at 8 locations across Suffolk County, New York. We are a multi-specialty healthcare provider caring for our community through Primary and Specialty Medical Care, Dental, Behavioral Health, Audiology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology. About the Role: The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of healthcare services at Long Island Select Healthcare Inc. This position involves a combination of clinical and administrative tasks that support patient care and enhance the overall patient experience. The Medical Assistant will work closely with healthcare professionals, including Nurse Practitioners, to provide high-quality care and assist in various medical procedures. By effectively managing patient interactions and performing essential medical tasks, the Medical Assistant contributes to the efficiency of the healthcare team. Ultimately, this role is vital in promoting patient health and well-being while maintaining a welcoming and organized environment. Minimum Qualifications: β’ High school diploma or equivalent., β’ Completion of a Medical Assistant training program or equivalent experience., β’ Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting., β’ Certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)., β’ Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, drawing blood, and preparing specimens for laboratory testing., β’ Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are readily available., β’ Manage patient scheduling, answer phone calls, and provide information to patients regarding their appointments and medical inquiries., β’ Maintain a clean and sterile environment by following proper sterilization protocols and ensuring that medical instruments are properly cared for., β’ Document patient information accurately in electronic health records and assist in the management of patient files., β’ Answering incoming calls and returning patient messages promptly and professionally. The required skills for this position, such as Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy, are essential for performing clinical tasks that directly impact patient care. Daily work will involve using medical instruments and techniques to ensure accurate and safe procedures, such as drawing blood and taking vital signs. Strong communication skills are necessary for answering phones and interacting with patients, ensuring they feel supported and informed. Attention to detail is critical when processing specimens and maintaining sterilization protocols to prevent infections. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with EHR systems, will enhance the efficiency of documentation and patient management, contributing to a seamless healthcare experience.
