Job DescriptionAbout Our Organization Our facility is a 437-bed teaching hospital located around 40 miles from New York City, nestled in West Islip, Long Island. Patient Care and Services Our hospital serves the largest pediatric population on Long Island's South Shore, with a Pediatric Emergency Department that handles over 20,000 visits annually. We are proud to offer Suffolk County's only freestanding Center for Pediatric Specialty Care, with additional satellite locations in Nassau County and Eastern Long Island. Our comprehensive children's program caters to patients from infancy through adulthood, featuring a Level III Neonatology Unit and a wide array of pediatric specialists, including: • Gastroenterology, • Neurology, • Neurosurgery, • Endocrinology, • Genetics, • Pulmonology, • Hematology, • Infectious Diseases, • Developmental Pediatrics, • Nephrology Our facility includes a four-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a 16-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a dedicated pediatric unit. The Department of Pediatrics is staffed around the clock by pediatric hospitalists, neonatologists, and pediatric intensivists, along with seven pediatric anesthesiologists and support from pediatric radiologists and pathologists. We also have a specialized Pediatric Emergency Department that operates 24/7 with physicians trained in pediatric emergency medicine. Training and Development In addition to our robust inpatient services, we operate general pediatric outpatient practices and provide training for residents in our accredited pediatric residency program, as well as fellows in pediatric emergency medicine. This collaborative environment emphasizes evidence-based practices, ongoing education, and high-quality patient care. As a vital member of our team, you will oversee and mentor residents during their pediatric surgery rotations. Accreditations and Facilities Our hospital is recognized as an American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACSCoT) Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, a Level I Adult Trauma Center, and a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center. We also hold distinctions as a Bariatric Center of Excellence and an ACS Commission on Cancer accredited facility with a dedicated Cancer Institute. Our nursing team is among the top 8% of hospitals nationwide to achieve ANCC Magnet Recognition®, reflecting our commitment to nursing excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration. We have residency programs in emergency medicine, family practice, podiatry, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. Recently, we completed a significant modernization project, unveiling a new six-floor patient care pavilion and pediatric emergency department in December 2025. Position Overview We are currently looking for a board-certified, board-eligible, or fellowship-trained pediatric surgeon to join our team. The pediatric surgeon will be fully integrated into the Department of Surgery within the Division of Pediatric Surgery. Compensation and Benefits We offer a competitive salary range of $532,411 to $650,000. This range is a good faith estimate and actual compensation will depend on various factors, including education, training, skills, licensure, certification, competencies, and relevant experience. Please note that this salary range does not include potential bonuses, incentive pay, or other forms of compensation, nor does it account for the value of benefits.
