Job Description Mount Sinai Services at NYC Health+Hospitals/Queens is seeking a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our Surgical Oncology team at the Queens Cancer Center. This Center of Excellence is the only state-of the-art comprehensive cancer center in the borough of Queens and the only established cancer center in the NYC Health+Hospitals System. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a mission-driven and high acuity environment with a supportive team. Position Overview: The Surgical Oncology PA-C will function in the outpatient/ambulatory, inpatient, perioperative, and intraoperative settings. The PA-C will play a vital role in supporting physicians and surgical oncologists by coordinating and delivering high-quality care to patients with complex malignancies. Responsibilities include: · Participate in outpatient/ambulatory care, including new and follow-up patient visits, coordination of care, and rendering prescribed treatments. · Provide inpatient care, including pre- and post-operative management, patient rounds, and inpatient consultations under the direction of physician/ surgeons. · Assist in operative procedures and perform perioperative management, including preoperative assessments and postoperative evaluations. · Educate patients, families, and caregivers about disease processes, treatment plans, and post-treatment care. · Perform medical evaluations, including histories, physical examinations, ordering/interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribing medications as appropriate, in conjunction with supervising physician/ surgeons. · Participate in clinical research, including establishing and maintaining research database. Assist with the coordination of clinical trials. · Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team to ensure continuity of care. Qualifications: · Graduate of an accredited ARC-PA (Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant) Physician Assistant program. · Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies (MMS/MHS/MS or equivalent) from an ARC-PA–accredited PA program. Bachelor’s degree may be considered. · Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). · Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA) license New York State license (or eligibility for licensure). · Current DEA license for prescribing medications, including controlled substances (as required). · Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills. · Prior experience in general surgery, surgical oncology or medical oncology/hematology is preferred but not required.
