We are currently looking for a Lab Assistant to join our growing team! ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Logging of customer samples into the LIMS system with accuracy. Uses products as needed., • Split samples between departments, • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and reliability work., • Ensure adherence to the daily work schedule., • Make suggestions and recommendations regarding product/specs. that would aid in logging, including communication with customers., • Perform clerical review to ensure accuracy., • Ensure all samples are labeled correctly and stored at the appropriate temperatures until testing can occur., • Ensure the sample receiving/splitting room is cleaned and maintained., • Participate in special projects as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor., • Keep the Manager/Supervisor informed of issues or problems within the department., • Interact with clients, suppliers and vendors as required., • Learn new techniques and technologies and trains others as appropriate., • Work effectively with other departments., • Responsible for the execution of all ISO and QC requirements., • Stock/order supplies as needed (labels, boxes etc.), • Assist with sample retain and retrieval, • Assists with purchasing and inventory, • Assist in media prep, • Assist in cleaning of laboratory glassware, • Assist in general laboratory housekeeping tasks, • Other duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma, • Knowledge of good aseptic technique and behaviors that can reduce cross contamination., • Good conceptual basis in laboratory setting with proven ability to perform basic lab techniques., • Critical thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems., • Excellent organizational skills - ability to use your time, energy, resources, etc. in an effective manner., • Time management – one’s own time and the time of others., • Training – teaching and guiding others how to complete a process from beginning to end., • Strong relevant qualitative and quantitative skills., • Excellent arithmetic skills – using mathematics to solve problems., • Good communication skills – speaking, reading, writing and listening., • Manual dexterity., • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 40 lbs. Job Description Unload waste from incoming vehicles. Separates non-autoclavable waste to be incinerated. • Stage waste on conveyor system or properly stack waste for scanning in the Biotrack system., • Scan waste into the Biotrack system for proper recordkeeping purposes., • Load autoclave bins or incinerator hopper with waste for processing., • Place re-usable containers on tub wash line for decontamination., • Operates tub wash unit insuring the wash unit is operating properly. Removes clean tubs from wash unit, inspects tubs and stacks for loading onto assigned vehicle for re-use., • Operates tub wash sprayer for oversized reusable tubs insuring the unit is operating properly. Inspects tubs and stacks for loading onto assigned vehicle for re-use., • Decontaminates vehicles cargo-carrying portion, reloads assigned re-usable tubs and insures cargo-carrying portion of vehicle does not have free liquid on the floor. Informs plant supervisor the vehicle is ready to be moved from dock area., • Insures housekeeping issues, e.g., spills cleaned up, floor is dry, and debris not on floor, etc., are addressed immediately., • Assists in other areas of the plant operation as directed. Education and Experience: • One year related experience or training or combination of experience and training, demonstrating strong communication skills and tact., • Position requires extensive lifting, walking, bending, and pushing. Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds and push and/or pull carts weighing as much as 500 pounds., • Demonstrates knowledge of barcode scanning and basic computer skills. Intensiveness of the supervision determined by the specific needs of the people supported., • Complete and review assigned reports, logs, and documentation in accordance with ACLD Corporate Compliance Policy., • Assist the people supported with the use of their personal allowance, including oversight in shopping, budgeting and managing their income., • Interact positively with families, Care Managers and other outside providers while assisting the people you support in developing and maintaining relationships. Represent ACLD in a positive manner. Assist the people supported with transportation utilizing agency vehicles. * Attend required staff meetings, supervision sessions and training programs as assigned. • Comply with all training requirements for the job that include online and in person training as applicable.
