Job Description Established in 1926, Family Service League is a social services agency transforming lives and communities through mental health, addiction, housing, and essential human services with more than 60 social service programs in over 20 locations. SUMMARY Family Service League is seeking a part-time Transportation Aide for a homeless shelter in Brentwood. The Transportation Aide will be responsible for navigating and assisting students and parents with the morning bus procedures. The Aide will work collaboratively with clients, educational and recreational program staff, case management, DSS, school districts and school transportation offices. The Transportation Aide will be responsible for offering guidance and support to families, working to foster a positive, strength-based environment and providing safe monitoring and supervision of the children. RESPONSIBILITIES • The Transportation Aide will provide direct interaction and support to children and families residing in emergency housing to build upon strength and resources., • Manage bus duties for morning school transportation to ensure all children leaving for school are adequately supervised and board the correct bus., • Monitor and record school attendance and document reason for absence., • Deliver daily documentation to the Supervisor and Coordinator related to school attendance., • Communicate any transportation changes to Client, Case Management, Supervisor and Coordinator., • Provide excellent supervision and monitoring skills pertaining to the safety of children., • The Transportation Aide will assist with special department projects., • Work closely with program staff to implement and maintain program performance standards., • Assist and engage in enriching, interactive and developmentally appropriate departmental activities with families., • Set and observe appropriate boundaries with clients; observe client confidentiality and HIPPA protocols., • Attend scheduled team meetings, individual supervision, and trainings as required., • The Transportation Aide will oversee compliance of rules, regulations, and policies of shelter., • Adhere to identified schedules and routines., • Advocate for client needs., • Responsible for reading and understanding Policy and Procedure Manual., • Required to read and respond to daily emails. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. A minimum of 1 year of experience in Human Services or related field. Must have knowledge of homeless population and DSS policies and regulations. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required. Must be able to work independently and part of a multi-disciplinary team. Job Summary: The teacher works to deepen students’ mastery of the English Language through reading, writing, speaking and listening. The teacher is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering instruction to small groups students. The teacher will uphold the school’s mission to ensure that all students receive a world class education. Responsibilities and Duties • Teach a standards- based curriculum that incorporates the New York State English As A Second Language standards and the English Language Arts Standards, • Push-in classroom to differentiate instruction in English Language Arts, • Pull out classroom to provide ESL instruction in small groups., • Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials., • Incorporate the use of technology on an ongoing basis., • Provide interactive and meaningful learning material to students, maintaining positive learning environment for active participation of students, assigning homework, and conduct periodic assessments to measure student growth and progress., • Implement and deliver quality instruction to students that prepare students to pass the NYSESLAT., • Design the curriculum that challenges the learning ability of students and ensure overall development of language., • Engage students in problem solving, critical thinking and other activities that make subject matter meaningful.
