Job DescriptionJob Title: Packer Job Description The Packer supports packaging operations in a food manufacturing environment by following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all requirements outlined in the company’s HACCP plan for SQF compliance, sanitation, traceability, and quality standards. This role organizes inventory, prepares items for shipment, works collaboratively on a production line, stages packing materials and finished goods, operates and monitors packaging equipment, and maintains a clean and safe workstation while completing additional tasks assigned by leadership. Responsibilities • Follow all safety, food safety, and cGMP guidelines as defined by the company’s Food Safety and Quality Programs., • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area at all times., • Operate and monitor packaging machinery in accordance with company procedures and safety guidelines., • Set up, adjust, and perform changeovers on packaging equipment according to production schedules and product specifications., • Monitor the production process and follow production guidelines and specifications to ensure consistent output., • Conduct regular quality checks on packaged goods to ensure they meet established quality and food safety standards., • Monitor packaging materials and supplies and replenish them as needed to maintain continuous production., • Report any food quality or food safety issues or concerns promptly to a supervisor., • Report any machine failures, accurately describing the frequency and type of failure., • Assist with organizing inventory and staging packing materials and finished goods for shipment., • Ensure production equipment is properly stocked to support continuous operation., • Monitor the production of various size bars and document reports for quality assurance and traceability., • Perform product inspection and packaging in a cleanroom or controlled environment as required., • Clean and sanitize the workstation and equipment as needed in accordance with sanitation and safety standards., • Work effectively as part of a production team to meet daily production and quality targets.Essential Skills, • Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively on a production line., • Good communication skills; ability to clearly report issues and follow instructions., • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and adapt to changing production needs., • Flexibility with scheduling and the ability to work multiple shifts as required., • Problem-solving skills to identify and communicate operational or quality issues., • Ability to perform medium work, including exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally., • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours and move about on foot to accomplish tasks., • Capability to extend hands and arms in any direction and apply pressure with fingers and palms., • Ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels and receive detailed information through oral communication., • Visual ability to perform inspections involving small defects and to distinguish colors., • Ability to express and exchange ideas clearly through spoken word., • Capability to bend at the waist, legs, and spine to reach and handle products., • Ability to go up and down stairs and work around moving mechanical parts such as conveyors., • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment for sustained periods.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in production, general labor, or packing roles in a manufacturing environment., • Familiarity with food manufacturing processes and GMP requirements., • Experience working with production equipment, including stocking and basic monitoring., • Experience documenting reports for quality assurance and traceability., • Background in cleanroom, inspection, or packaging work is an asset., • Bilingual communication skills are a plus.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that follows strict GMP guidelines and food safety standards. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The work is performed in a production and packaging environment that may include refrigerated areas and exposure to moving mechanical parts such as conveyors. Team members stand for sustained periods, move throughout the facility, and may frequently bend, reach, and lift. The facility operates under strict hygiene rules, including a dress code that prohibits jewelry and make-up to maintain product safety and sanitation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piscataway, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
