Job DescriptionCompany Background: Flower Construction builds custom-commissioned single-family homes in the New York metro area and in South Florida. Established by John Flower, we have been in business for over 28 years and expanded into the Florida market 3 years ago. Controller duties: • Oversees day to day accounting operations including accounts payables, accounts receivables, payroll and general ledger., • Manages Accounting staff – 2-3 Construction Admins, 1 Bookkeeper and 1 payroll manager., • Ensures timely and accurate distribution of client AIA/T&M billings and coordinates review and approval by architect/owner’s representative, • Maintain job cost accounting systems to ensure accurate tracking of project budgets, variances and profitability., • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (reconciliation Income Statement to WIP, Balance Sheet review, monitor AP, AR, book Depreciation), • Coordinates accounting and tax reporting with outside accounting firm., • Cash management – review/book bank reconciliations, • Insurance – review, maintain adjust current policies (proper coverage)., • Sales & Use Tax – review, assess, adjust status, if needed.Improve cash balance through overhead efficiencies identified CFO duties to grow into (currently managed by Accountant/outside firm): • Oversees company finances and controllers of two separate entities Flowcon, Inc. (operating out of Summit, NJ) and Flower and Company (operating out of West Palm Beach) doing business as Flower Construction., • Establish and maintain strong internal controls, policies and procedures to safeguard company assets., • Forecast profit/loss and cash flows and make recommendations to owners on how to manage, • Develops dashboards and financial reports to provide insights to management., • Develop checks and balances for tracking project costs and company costs versus budgets., • Leads annual budgeting process, working closely with project managers, estimating, and leadership team., • Addresses all compliance correspondence received from federal, state, and local agencies., • Coordinates annual insurance audit and external audits (if any) from owner’s representatives or architects reviewing job costs., • Evaluate personnel and make staffing recommendations for Accounting/Admin groups and is involved in hiring/training/mentoring as needed to best manage department., • Monitors and manage working capital, banking relationships and compliance with loans/supplier credit relationships for both offices., • Acts as chief risk officer and proactively alerts management of risks external or internal and recommends plans to address, e.g.:, • changes in licensing rules, tax, and insurance requirements, federal, state, department of labor requirements, etc.… that impact industry/markets, • project risks (e.g. general conditions, labor use, burn rates and unsigned change orders) and recommends plans to address., • Evaluate and optimize accounting software, ERP systems and technology tools., • Implement best practices in job costing, project billing, subcontractor compliance, and WIP reporting., • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)., • 7–10+ years of accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in construction or related industry., • Strong knowledge of GAAP, construction accounting, WIP schedules, and job costing., • Experience with ERP/accounting software common in construction (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint Vista, Procore integration, QuickBooks Enterprise)., • Proven leadership skills with ability to manage and develop a small accounting team., • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills., • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, entrepreneurial environment.Compensation & Benefits, • Competitive salary (commensurate with experience)., • Performance-based bonus opportunities., • Health, dental, and vision insurance., • Retirement plan with company match. lsrvACHMou
