Job DescriptionJob Description: Marymount Manhattan College is seeking a dynamic and tech-savvy librarian to fill the role of Research and Instructional Technology Librarian. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive support services and research assistance to our diverse community of students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in both in-person and online library initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of teaching and learning experiences through innovative practices and effective use of technology. Job DescriptionDescriptionOverview New York Public Library is hiring Tutors for the NYPL After School program, which provides free, drop-in homework help and enrichment activities for school-age children at NYPL locations in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Tutors work alongside the Lead Tutor at each location. The 2024-2025 program year for NYPL After School will run from September 30, 2024 to June 12, 2025. Tutors will not work during scheduled program breaks, including holiday closures and days when NYC DOE schools are not in session. Prior to the program’s launch, Tutors will attend training workshops during the weeks of September 16 and September 23, 2024. During the program cycle, Tutors will work 8 hours per week, either Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays, scheduled for four hours a day between 2:00-7:00 PM, with additional hours required for staff meetings, professional development, and program preparation. Working alongside the Lead Tutor at each location, Tutors work in the public library to engage children ages 6-12 in group format academic support and enrichment activities during the busy after school hours. ABOUT THE POSITION: The Supervising Library Assistant – Bookmobile, under general direction and in a supervisory capacity over a small staff of employees, performs technical and/or paraprofessional duties in one or more of the functional areas of librarianship; does other related duties as required. May issue and control subordinates’ work assignments and schedules. The Supervising Library Assistant supervises a small staff in the day-to-day activities of the Bookmobile to ensure the smooth functioning of the Bookmobile, and to promote the services of the Jersey City Free Public Library in its outreach activities and in its efforts to meet the needs of the Jersey City community on site, beyond the walls of a physical library. In addition to providing reference help and general customer service to patrons, this person will develop, oversee, and participate in programming initiatives such as story hours, preschool programs, programs and events for school students, children and teens, and programs for senior citizens, convalescents, ethnic groups, and other members of the general community. The Supervising Library Assistant will oversee both the current Bookmobile and the new one, expected to arrive shortly. This person will also be required to drive one or the other of the two bookmobiles on occasion. For this reason, a CDL license is highly desirable. This person will be responsible for ensuring the technical and/or paraprofessional duties, such as circulation, weeding, new book orders, holds requests, etc., are met on each of the Bookmobiles. This person will contact appropriate organizations, develop appropriate Bookmobile routes, and make sure they are communicated and updated on a timely and regular basis using tools and departments that are available to library staff for this purpose.
