Job Description Accountant/ Financial Analyst Fully in-office Monday- Friday Position Overview: The Accountant/ Financial Analyst is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the accuracy of management accounts and serving as the primary financial contact for company’s management clients. This individual will manage financial reporting, analysis, and operational accounting tasks across a designated portfolio, supporting clients and internal stakeholders with insightful financial problem-solving. Key Responsibilities: Financial Management and Reporting: • Oversee the preparation, accuracy, and timely delivery of financial statements, building accounts, and operational finance reports., • Manage general ledger maintenance, including journal entries for cash and accrual-based transactions., • Conduct and review bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies., • Generate and present monthly financial reports and analyses to management, highlighting key insights and areas for improvement., • Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements., • Assist in annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as needed., • Oversee a portfolio of third-party managed properties, ensuring financial accuracy and alignment with client goals., • Provide support and problem-solving assistance to property managers., • Process and book entries across the designated property portfolio, including monthly journal entries., • Execute and record wire transfers through online banking portals., • Process periodic real estate tax payments on a quarterly or semi-annual basis., • Review, oversee, and approve bank reconciliations for assigned portfolios., • Conduct monthly reviews of increase/decrease reports to identify and resolve discrepancies., • Monitor cash balances for each building to prevent overdrafts and manage reserve funds., • Conduct monthly reviews of financial statements for unpaid invoices, arrears, cash flow reports, and loan and reserve statements., • Review budgets monthly, comparing actual to budgeted cash flow for each assigned property., • Perform semi-annual cash flow variance analyses, identifying trends and discrepancies., • Act as the primary financial contact for clients, addressing questions and concerns and providing timely financial insights., • Calculate real estate tax escalations for commercial tenant billing., • Complete special projects or requests as assigned to meet client and organizational needs., • Prepare and process annual forms such as 1098s and 1099s for tax compliance. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree is a plus., • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis experience, • MUST HAVE Residential Real Estate experience (Condo/ Coop preferred), • Proficient in accounting software (MDS is plus) and MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)., • Strong understanding of general ledger maintenance, cash management, and accrual accounting., • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy., • Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and cross-functional teams.
